  • Forum gone a bit dead?

I've found that THIA doesn't really captivate me like it used to. Sure, it's fun writing spam posts () and starting topics about Knight88z, but other than that, the topics in these forums are a bit bland.

We need some new ideas people! Think!

This place went buck wild around TGS, with the release of 2 new trailers and all. Now things have calmed down. They'll pick up again once we get new info...that's where all the good stuff happens. Other than that, the most fun we'll have is watching people fight/spam and get banned.

I still come here very frequently but I don't post as much as I used to do. Usually because there is just nothing to really post about since the forum isn't as alive as it was. Hopefully it'll get back up though.

I've been busy with work and my classes. It's not easy to post much in a night when I'm more worried about writing an essay almost every night for my sociolgy class. I'm sure that once another flood of new info comes out, things will liven up again before fading once more.

And it gets rather boring when almost anyting in the RE board is just another RE5 theory. There comes a point when there can only be so many before they start sounding utterly ridiculous.

Some forums have up and down periods.

And personally, I like it when such down periods are without any spam.
Spam usually leads to way too much "moderating" being required, and since we kinda run the show without anything but our spending money and off-time, we kinda like a few quiet periods here and there where we get to work on our planned features/research and evt. also try to have a little bit of extra "life".

I guess the reason for a bit of downtime these days are because of stuff like Exams, the insanity brought upon the world thanks to the upcoming Holidays and, of course, quite a lot of great game releases.

However; productive, interesting and otherwise contributing posts are more than welcome at all times of the year

I'm pretty sure the forum "right now" is more active than it used to. It's just that people are forgetting that there was quite a lot of additional activity 'cause of the huge bomb of Resident Evil 5 news we recently had.
(And like a full top-to-bottom page worth of topics only about Jill and her involvement in RE5)

Lulz, I suppose so But I would still prefer some new news about a RE beta over new RE5 news. RE5 doesn't particuarly interest me.

It's fine the way it is now. Things get hectic and crazy when new info is abound, which is cool.

I'll probably be disappearing around February-ish to avoid any RE5 spoilers.

Theres a possible chance people have left because they no longer find BH interesting.

                      That's kinda true...

Carnivol, you know I won't find any new news about a RE beta. Everything's all been found already.

You can't find us some 'cause everything has been found?
How do we make headlines then? Repost the same old?

I think a lot of the older and more old-school BH/RE fans not only aren't as active, but also don't care much for what comes up on the forums anymore aside from substantial news information. Honestly I don't mind the forums being quiet and not many topics showing up.

It's hard to describe without sounding elitist, but I just don't think it's that great to see a lot of certain topics that newer members, especially the younger fans, like to post. Seeing poll posts that are like "Who's prettier, Ada, Rebecca, Jill, ect.?" or just very random, unnecessary, or immature topics. I don't think these are necessary to have an active, healthy community. Unfortunately, with certain game series starting to take a long time to develop between sequels, it can lead to a lot of dry spells for anything substantial to talk about in various communities these days, including RE.

And a lot of the things brought up too, a lot of the older fans have seen before and don't care to get into. That doesn't help either. The series is now going on 12+ years old. That's a long time.

For THIA forums, and again I don't want to sound elitist or stereotype people, but many of our core members are the older and old-school members who have little interest in many of the polls and mundane topics that pop up. The younger fans that come in will either a) be mature for their age and fit in well, making good topics and contributing well, b) be less inclined to stay noticing that a lot of the junk topics they make don't get anywhere and leave to go to GameFAQs or other RE forums where there are more of their kind, or c) sort of hit the middle ground and contribute well a decent times, but also still show that current generation "spirit".

THIA forums are already a lot more active than they used to be, as Carn pointed out. I noticed a huge spike of activity right after last year's incident with the Playstation Museum. A lot of people showed up to our forums right after that.

I'm not sure I said everything exactly as I wanted to. I mean no insults to anyone or anything, and I hope no one takes offense. I'm tired and about to go to bed, and that usually ends up me not quite getting my writing how I wanted it.

Your sole raison d'ĂȘtre is to acquire 1.5, Chris.

I reckon we need new whole forums dedicated to other games to keep things interesting. I know this is an RE forum, but like I said before, it's getting kinda dry.

Carnivol, I take that insult to heart. Do you think I wouldn't report any new news? I'm probably one of the very few people out there that would release any beta I could find for free
