I went into my school's library today looking for Momo by Michael Ende, unknowing that he was the author of The Neverending Story. Didn't find either book but found another by him...also found that this libary had the rest of the Bloody Jack series. Cha-ching.

I'm also ready to head to the local library to look for Stephen King. Any recommendations for a first King read?

Read any of the popular ones. Pet Sematary, The Shining, IT, etc. I haven't gotten into any more of his massive bibliography, but those gave me some scares.

Well, my Silent Hill 4 story/character orgasm has rebounded it seems and I'm reading a novel called Coin Locker Babies by Ryu Murakami (which I believe developers admitted a premise rip for SH4). The two protagonists were left in coin lockers as babies and while I haven't seen any indication that either of them thought their birthplace was their mother, one has laid bare his intentions to destroy the outside world...so...Nonetheless, external from its connections with the game, it's a fun novel and the situations/characters are distinct in their absurdly humorous ways.

                Social biology from the 1970s.
Specifically, The Social Contract, by Robert Ardrey. Alot of it's been proven false, and some of the things said in the book are VERY un-PC by today's standards, but the prose is so fucking fantastic, I really want to read it until the end.

Thank you. =D Hopefully a girl in my Satire class will let me borrow them, since I mentioned today how I haven't gotten a chance to read them yet.

The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

A childhood favorite of mine, always worth a re-read as I love how the themes have been so well disguised within it that it makes it suitable for all ages.

I'm reading Brisingr the 3rd book in the Eragon series. Seems good so far.
Also I'm reading Johnny the Homicidal Maniac again. Might try reading Crank as soon as the person checks it back in. I read more than 1 book at a time way too often...

Just read Dostoevsky's The Double after taking a break from his stuff for a while. It's the same hyperbolic, self-indulgent psychological stuff he's famous for, and I still love it. Also, Phillip K. Dick's A Maze of Death, and Jonathan Carroll's The Land of Laughs. Both fun, quick reads, engaging too.

I just started Solzhenitsyn's first volume of The Gulag Archipelago, and I'm sure I'll stop in the middle. It's fascinating though just how paranoid Lenin's Soviet Union seemed (I'm sure Stalin's wasn't much better, I haven't even got to that point). Arrests left and right, people who had "transgressed" against the Revolution before it even happened or MIGHT do something, fuck them, throw 'em out. Wives of arrested people, arrested weeks later.
