  • Christian Bale Flips Out: Was he wrong?

You may have heard the news reports recently about Christian Bale's apparent rant on the set of Terminator: Salvation when a DP steps into the scene during filming. I know that it sounds pretty harsh, and no one should treat someone like that no matter who you are. On the otherside, you have to keep in mind that it was the last ( and most emotional ) scene in the movie where the actor has to be completely focused and then someone walks right into the scene and screws it all up, apparently twice. I can see where Bale would be extremely upset because he's a very dedicated and passionate actor ( just look at the machinist ), but he still went over the edge. Than again, actors go off on people like this everyday...this one just happened to be on tape.

    Warning: Explicit Language

Christian Bale had some personal problems while filming the Terminator, if you remember he was arrested for assaulting his mother and sister but that doesn't give him the right to insult the DP like that. AND WHERE THE HELL WAS THE DIRECTOR DURING THAT INCIDENT?

The Director was right there the whole time. When Chrisitian Bale says something like" McG is there anything you wanna tell this prick? ", he says " I didn't see it happen". I think it's pretty funny that the whole time McG is talking all soft spoken where as Christian Bale is screaming like you think a director would. I guess McG didn't want to piss Bale of into walking off the set since they were shooting the last scenes. He was arrested for "verbally assualting" his mom and sister after they apparently called his wife a slut, but after a rant like this I can see why they would call the police

I agree, I was just a bit suprised that he almost got physical with a crew member. I guess when your in the zone your in the zone.

Depending on where you read the story, the "assault" incident was highly suspect.

As for the incident, the DP did say later on that Bale is never like that on set, aside from this obvious exception. Truth be told, if the guy did walk in carelessly TWICE during shooting, then I can understand Bale's point of view. I'd imagine it being a typical 12 hour work day, and you're bound to snap if someone on the crew was careless enough to disrupt shooting twice.. by doing the same thing.

On to my disgust on the matter that this has become a "hit" online, with a dance remix no less. Then again, I've seen a ton of bullshit on youtube, so nothing can surprise me nowadays.

Tension do rise on sets, and always have. It's just that nowadays you have morons recording incidents and posting them online. The late Christopher Reeve has had his moments because he took his job so seriously. No one heard about them until the turn of the century during interviews, mentioned by Reeve and his fellow cast mates.

Also Bale has a backround of playing psychos. Like Patrick Bateman

Yea these actors really put everything they've got into their movies ( the good ones at least ) so it's understandable to lose it every once in ahwile when you make a living out of channeling emotions and switching moods on the spot. It's art, and Bale simply doesn't like his to be fucked with.

Bale's a prime sample of someone who gives basically everything to the role (The Machinist, anyone?). Could totally see where he's coming from if it's a long day of shooting, many days of potential overtime, a demanding scene getting shot... it gets borked by something that shouldn't really happen in the first place, etc...

Sure, it sounds pretty harsh, but seriously... just like pretty much everyone else; he's still human.

If you think your job is demanding, wait until you're under the pressure of working day and night, weekends and more, while at the same time also trying to have a life on the side + attending various events 'cause it's "part of the deal" + also maintain a good public profile and keep up that awesome image of being a public icon and role model.

If anything, I like him more than I already did after hearing that.

Oh everyone thinks it's funny now. Just wait 'till someone pisses him off on the set of his next movie. Maybe then he might just have a gun with him.

The way Bale snapped is NOT normal under ANY circumstances. There is something wrong with that man.

People hold actors to some high standard...but really they are nothing special. I really don't care if Bale acted like a prick (maybe he was just having a bad day). I think he's a decent actor...if he wants to pitch a fit on set, its not doing anything to me. It's just a quick way for tabloids to make money by printing this about him.
