I never had any interest in armed service. I don't play well with others. That I occasionally have to walk with a cane now, and a limp all the time, is the reason I'll never have to.

Of course, it helps that the guy I knew who did enlist was a sniper...who got cracked so hard in groin from recoil he smashed one of his own testicles went AWOL. When he got discharged he went into selling guns to chavs and such and is currently doing...quite a lot of years in prison.

I wanted to fight in Operation Desert Storm. I was like 5 years old though. My parents prepared a fake recruitment letter saying I could join, but nothing happened after that - liars.

I later learned that was a good thing because I don't want to die fighting for zog. Modern wars in this time of globalism and individualism are fought for economic reasons only, like the gulf wars, WWII etc. Not just for natural resources but to overthrow superior economic systems, in WWII the national socialist system was vastly superior and unexploitable, "a mark printed for every hour worked" they used to say, that's the only reason the war was fought. That's why Israel is kinda like a national socialist state "never forgive, never forget". It's also why the military is undesirable to join - no-one wants to fight in those shitty wars for money.

I wouldn't mind fighting for a real cause, it's still a possibility if WWIII happens within the next 15 years or so. The wars won't stop until one country dominates completely.

I love Big Train (well, the sketches I've been able to see online). Funny, I was just thinking about the one with Simon Pegg as the US general demonstrating their weapons. Thanks for this, I haven't seen it.
