  • My band calling it a day, free downloadable songs

I don't want to get accused of advertising or anything but my band The Truth About Comets have just stuck our newest and final songs online at our Myspace page. We've been a band for a few years now and have decided to call it a day and attack some other musical projects instead.

It'll probably be a horrible racket to most people but if you're interested in bands like Tool, Botch and Dillinger Escape Plan, or just progressive metal in general, then check it out and have a listen. I reccomend 'Smokey Shoots the Bandit' because i've been told it is the most melodic and 'accessible' (whatever that means.)

Would love to hear your thoughts!

"Racket" fits the description perfectly. I quit 12 seconds into Smokey Shoots The Bandit.

Sorry, but I don't like screamo. If it was normal music, I'd have a good listen and present a review

Aw c'mon, you can't listen to 12 seconds and dismiss it as screamo
The irony is that the lyrics during the end section of that song are a very obvious two finger reference to generic "emo/screamo" bands. And what on earth is 'normal' music? I wasn't aware there was such a thing.

not my type of music , but it was recorded well, the vocals i would have made a little bit clearer since thats what i mainly listen to when listening to music. but no doubt we all have our different tastes , i like everything, but mainly produce and record hip hop. so i guess thats why i like to listen to the lyrics to make sure there saying something in the song. but anyway keep up the music.

lol..I've got some free music that I wrote...It's instrumental guitary stuff. I stopped playing a couple years ago.

Yeah that's a photo of me back then (clipped the hair off now)..

@Gideon Quinn you guys do the tool/mastadon thing pretty good..was pretty heavy to boot

Thanks for the comments guys, i appreciate you listening for longer than 12 seconds. Production criticism noted. I can't remember why we decided to mix the screamy vocals so low but it was an artistic reason. Going for the whole Isis/Neurosis thing of having the harsh vocals quiet but the singing a little bit louder.

Harry Mason, i'm downloading your music now. I'll let you know when i've given it a listen. And the Mastodon reference was very generous, i thank you.

Sorry man, I didn't mean to sound harsh :/

I just really really hate screamo. I honestly can't stand it, and will do anything in my power to stop those around me from playing it.

To tell you the truth, I expected a live-performance recording. In your credit, I thought the studio quality and mastering was excellent.

Meh, it's okay. I would say it sucked completely, but it really doesn't, it's just not my type of music. I'm more of an 80's rock kind of person myself.

Well thanks for taking the time to listen regardless, i appreciate it - And no worries Helegad, i've been playing in bands long enough to not take it personally when people don't like us
