I don't know if it really makes any sense for me to post this, but I feel it's only right to do it keeping in mind some of the things I've witnessed around this forum.
Fisrt of all, I've always seen Resident Evil as a special kind of game that could appeal even to a person who generally dislikes video games. I'm not a big fan of video games myself. I am certainly not a gamer, or a fanboy, or a fanatic, or anything like that.
Then again, Resident Evil has always been special to me. It's never been about a single character or a single game from the series. It's never been about games in general or playing games either. It's always been about RESIDENT EVIL. I've been a 'fan' of Resident Evil since 1998 and I truly appreciate what the true original Resident Evil once was. That was a different time I guess. It's not the same now and it will never be the same.
I don't like forums. People are faceless, so they can pretty much write whatever they want and get away with it. That's not my thing. I started writing here though, since I really liked the design of the forum. Also, I initially thought there were many 'true fans' of Resident Evil here.
However, too many times have I witnessed certain people openly comment on other members of the forum, call them names, attack them. Sarcasm (the bad kind) and namecalling seem to be very popular around here. Even among mods.
This is uncivilized at best. I don't know what some people here seem to think, but if they talk and act the same way outside of this forum, in 'real life', then it's very sad.
What provoked me to write this? Well, I certainly didn't think RE5 was a true RE and I was emotional about it, which led me to write a few emotional posts, and I'm pretty sure that must have seemed like random RE hatred to some people, especially those to whom RE4 is inferior to RE5 in many ways. To me RE5 seemed less like a true RE than RE4. I'm not going to start arguing over that again, since I realized how pointless that is. Especially here.
I am amazed at certain people and how much they love finding something they disagree with and throwing all their energy in that direction, instead of finding something positive and talking about that. It's not even about me and my posts, it's about everyone. Someone writes something about Resident Evil without addressing anyone in any way. Then someone comes up and starts calling that person names, comments on them and their credibility, attacks them personally. I am sick of seeing that everywhere, in every topic. All this negative energy...and not only against me, but against everyone.
What I'm trying to say is things like that have pretty much killed my initial pleasure of posting here. I won't be doing it often from now on. I'm sure some people are quite happy. I'm happy for them.
