At least Nintendo Wii is comonly known now since everyone had a strong opinion about the name. But I don't care that much about the name, as long as the games are good I am happy.
Maybe it'll get changed for the Westerners, like how the genesis was called the mega drive somewhere else.
Doubt that, the name playes on the english word "we" so I doubt they will change it.

Introducing ... Wii.
As in "we".
While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. but you're
probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they
speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the
image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video
games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Bacause, it's really not about you or me.
It's about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything.
She sucks and you have low standards. I'll take the real thing rather than fantasizing over insane celebrities. Hey, move to a third world country and eat half of what you do now. Maybe she'll adopt you.
Borman, usually it takes Nintendo a while to get to updating things like that. We’ll see at E3 I guess.
