I second this. Now, people here may notice I like villains. Alexia, Kerrigan, Callisto, Alice Morgan from that Luther show. But Joffrey, pardon my French, is an utter cunt. A stupid little shit brat who thinks he is it but when it comes down to it, he's a scared little boy who isn't fit to be King. Look at his face when Arya twatted him over the head with a stick and threw his sword away, and when Tyrion slapped him. I'LL TELL MUMMY! Just like Viserys Targaryen, a weakling who thought he was powerful and thought he could treat others like crap, but didn't deserve the throne. I'm glad Viserys is dead (even though I do like the Targaryens) and I want to see Joffrey dead. Daenerys and Khal Drogo were my favourites.

This is interesting, because to be honest, Viserys Targaryen was indeed the heir to the throne. He was tricked by the Khal tribe, was he not? So in essence, the bad people here are Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen. Even though Viserys behaved like a moron towards his sister and the others, the deal that they initially made was not honoured. Khal Drogo got what he deserved due to his arrogance. And I wish Daenerys the best of luck further, I think she learned quite a lot of things.

If Jamie Lannister stabbed the mad king in the back, why was he not killed by the other guards loyal to the king? Did he have some sort of deal with Robert Baratheon and the rebellion? Seems odd to me that he survived this ordeal.

I'm just going to put my answers in a spoiler box just to be on the cautious side. . .though nothing really spoiler.

As far as Viserys's is concerned, the tv series really doesn't get much into why he is the way he is. He's a sympathetic character in the book(though certainly still an annoying asshat) because you get to understand why he is the way he is. He was just a boy when he fled with his mother, who was pregnant with Dany at the time. She soon died giving birth to Dany, which he partly blamed her for. All their lives they were on the run from the "Usurper's" assassins. The reason Visery's acts immaturely could be most certainly attributed to that, and the belief that the people in Westros were "sowing Dragon banners in secret."

The series tried to capture the sympathy of the molten crown scene, in how Visery withdraws his sword, with a content look on his face. Without reading the books, I don't think anyone would have really caught on that Visery really was that ignorant. In the narrative, Dany says that that moment hurt most of all, because she knew all he sincerely wanted was for Drogo to fulfill his promise, but regardless of that, Visery didn't realize he had crossed the line for drawing his sword in the Dothraki capital. That, and the golden crown scene is much more gruesome than the television series. Also, Dany came off less sympathic toward Visery's fate in the series than in the book. She came off a bit too cold for my taste.

As far as Jaime goes, well, the series glanced over what happened in the throne room by having Ned explaining it to Robert, but in the book we also get an actual flashback to that, that pretty much runs along the same line. Ned and his army came into the thrown room where Jamie was sitting on the iron throne with the King Aery's slayed beneath him. I might be mistaken, but I figure Robert must have pardoned Jamie, as he did Pyrcelle and Varys. Jaime is a Lannister, after all, so it wouldn't be the smartest idea to piss off your father-in-law and queen. That, and Robert HATES the Taragyens. Dubious means or no. And I will say, later on we get a flashback POV of Jaime in the later books that goes into just why he killed the "mad" King Aerys.

There was no evidence to prove Drogo wasn't going to honour the deal in his own time, which is what Ser Jorah tried to tell Viserys. Don't push it, Dothraki do things in their own time. He was too impatient.

I agree, I think if he had the patience, then perhaps.

The Lannisters joined the battle against Aerys at the last minute, and because of that Ned never forgave them. They got Aerys to open the gates to Kings Landing swearing to protect it against the rebellion, but they were on the side of the rebellion and stormed Kings Landing. Aerys swore no one would have it if he couldn't, and set about burning the whole thing to the ground. I dunno how many guards were inside the chamber Aerys was killed in but not many I imagine, given Jaime (yes, that's how it's actually spelt, weird) sat on the Iron Throne chilling out just after he'd done it. And bearing in mind Kings Landing was swarming with people loyal to the Lannister house at this point in time, similar to when Joffrey was crowned and everyone disloyal was arrested/killed.

Cos he loved and wanted to protect his wife and son. He actually turned out to be a pretty nice guy. I liked him even more since I read the book. In the show, on their wedding night, it seems like he rapes her and only likes her when she gives him a good shag. In the book, he caresses her on the wedding night and then asks her if she still doesn't want him to touch her, and she agrees because she is shocked that this barbarian is actually so sensitive and gentle with her, and that's when they start to fall in love - right away. Drogo and Dany are my favourite characters.

This is very true. I'd almost forgotten about that. Really didn't like the way they decided to adapt it that way versus the books. Espesically Dany's Drogo's relationship. It's far better handled in the books. (Dany gets jipped in several places in the series concerning her character as far as I'm concerned) And yes, in the books specifically, Ser Jorah makes it clear several times to Visery that the Dothraki honor there agreements at the times of their choosing. All he had to do was go back and wait in Penthos, but obviously, he was too hell bent on getting his army NOW. Thus, proving his undoing.


But Dany stands as the most important reason that I'm super excited for Spoiler:

Robert was the leader of the rebellion. Jaime sitting on the Throne has no meaning, he was a cocky teenager at the time. Robert was the cause of the entire thing because he raised an army and rebelled against the Targaryens to get Lyanna back who had been kidnapped, but she ended up dead anyway. Just because Jaime sits on the Throne doesn't make him King, no one seemed to really be bothered by it except for Ned. Jaime jokes it gives him a sore arse then walks off, and Robert laughs to Ned in retrospect "Well he's right, it does!" but Ned says he shouldn't have dared to sit on the Throne because it wasn't his place. This is when Ned is trying to tell Robert not to make Jaime Warden of the East (I think it's East anyway) to take over from Jon Arynn, because Tywin Lannister was the Warden of the West, and no one house should have that much power. Robert just remarks Jaime had no ill intent when he sat on the Throne, he was little more than a boy when it all happened and thought it was funny.
