  • Drunk driving.

A 22 year old rookie pitcher on the Los Angeles Angels was killed yesterday morning, along with two other people in the same car, by a drunk driver who ran a red light. The driver had a BAC nearly three times the legal limit, and has now been charged with THREE counts of murder. Nick Adenhart pitched 6 scoreless innings on Wednesday evening, the night before his death, and those were the last 6 innings of his young, shortened career and life. 22 years old, only 2 years older than me, with his entire life and career in front of him -- all taken away, thanks to drunk driving.

So, anyone have any other drunk driving stories?

Why yes..yes I have one. I bought Gran Turismo A-spec and was having a bad time trying to earn the licenses..when I took my PS2 to my friends with a case of beer. It wasn't until we were really buzzed that we started driving better, got all the licenses and beat the game..beer really is amazing!

Guys, keep it civil. To compare everyone who drinks to people who drink and drive is just dumb.

Chris, we get it. You don't like drinking. We understand this. But telling us all how dumb it is to do stuff like this doesn't help. Most of us are smarter than that. I drink, twice a year, at home with my wife and friends. I don't drink and drive, I don't drink till I pass out. I don't even drink enough most of the time to do anything but feel a bit sleepy. From what I know of most of our members...they mosty are the same way.

So please, respect the fact that we can drink responsibly even if you don't approve of it. Having a go at everyone for drinking isn't doing anything but make you look like a kid whose angry 'cos they've seen the negatives.

Now...if you wanna talk about the negatives of drinking in a calm and rational manner, rather than, 'Drinking kills kittens, isn't that AWESOME!' style please, feel free. Although I suspect most of us already know. Damage to the liver, the brain, the stomach, poor judgement leading to things like drink driving or swimming home down the river, aggresiveness leading to fights and clumisness leading to getting hurt, both of which lead to medical services being stretched and costing a vast sum of money here in the UK.

On the other hand...some people can drink a little, have fun and not do any harm.
