When I was a young child, I was unlucky to have some very messed up teeth. I had to wear braces til I was around 13...Anyway, I always enjoyed the few times I had to get dental surgery, because it was like..."Hey, let's get you high as all hell then let you have the day off school"!!!
Glad to know everything went well for you, Spencer!

Thank you all for the kind words. Exodontia may be a simple procedure for most of you, but for me it was like I had climbed a mountain. If there's anyone here who is fearful of dental surgery, then I wholly recommend you opt for conscious sedation. You simply don't care what goes on, you're awake and you can respond to the dentist, and you have control over the situation. If you can feel something, you just let them know. When you're not relaxed, it's hard to cooperate and in turn that just makes it more difficult for everyone.See you in hell.

My brother was on the baseball team in middle school for only one season. Two reasons: A. it just wasn't for him and B... well, his own teammate chucked a basball and hit him right in the mouth.
I shit you not. 16 shots right into his mouth. Lips completely covered by stitches. It was awful, and I felt so bad for him (mainly because I'm scared out of my fucking mind about needles). When he was better, I was better (everytime I'd look at his lips, I'd get extremely weak in the knees).
And then over the summer, a couple days after my 16th birthday, my brother's best friend (and a great family friend) died from a heart defect at the tender age of 19. On top of that, the day after I had to get all four wisdom teeth out. It was easy, but when I heard "IV" I freaked out. It was just the butterfly IV (the super-smallest one), but I still almost scared myself to tears (well, Andy's death might've played a factor too). I loathe, despise, abhor needles. But anyway, I went in the morning, and thank God they said they were gonna gas me beforehand so I wouldn't feel the IV. Never having had laughing gas before, he put the little mask over my nose. It smelled like bubble gum for a few seconds, and apparently the minute passed within moments because he said he was putting the needle in.
All I hear is a drill start up, and everything goes white. All of a sudden, I'm sitting in the room, asking the dentist if he wants to go home and play Guitar Hero with me since he's done working.
At the dentist, it wasn't too bad. It was the month afterwards, especially the following week. The first day, changing gauze hurt so bad I cried, and I couldn't sleep. Two days, I was a lot better. Then I realized that it was Andy's funeral day. My parents insisted that I stay home, but I couldn't not say my final goodbyes. My cheeks weren't actually too puffed out, but they sure felt like it when I walked into the funeral home. I don't do well at funerals in the first place, and my mouth wasn't helping me feel any better.
However, I've recovered from both events for the most part... But I have yet to visit Andy's grave. The funeral was too much, and I knew the burial would only be worse, so my grandparents took me home. I plan to do so on or before August 2, his death date...

Dental surgery +2 days.
Majority of the pain has subsided, jaw still feels stiff but can now yawn comfortably. Managed to consume two large bags of Doritos with few reprecussions, stomach is unpleasant but teeth otherwise in good shape. One more day of recovery ought to do it.Last edited by Mr. Spencer; 04-17-2009, 09:04 AM.See you in hell.

I'm not afraid of the denist I just can't stand going. It's like going to one of your relatives house that you can't stand but have no choice in the matter. I had braces for five years and was so happy when I got them off. I guess it worked out in the end because my teeth are straight and my girl loves my simle but I haven't been to the denist in about three years. John you will be fine they will give you pain pills and after a few days you will be back to normal. Besides we need more podcasts.Last edited by Stars1356; 04-17-2009, 10:54 AM.
