  • Clash of The Titans (2010)

The remake of the 1981 classic 'Clash of The Titans', the story of the myth of Perseus, who must battle Medusa, the Kraken and other beasts to save the beautiful Princess Andromeda, is slated for release on March 26th, 2010. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier(The Incredible Hulk, Transporter 2) and boasts a star-studded cast. There has been no media for the film as of yet, but IMDB.com lists the movie as 'filming,' so it's possible we'll see a teaser or trailer in the coming months.

The remake stars up-and-coming leading male Sam Worthington(Terminator Salvation, Avatar) as Perseus,

Liam Neeson(Taken, Schindler's List, a whole shitload of other great movies) as Zeus,

and holy-fucking-shit Ralph Fiennes(In Bruges, Harry Potter films, Red Dragon) as Hades.

Pretty damn good casting, if you ask me. This film seems to have a lot of potential. I still love the original, and remember it well from my childhood -- mainly for the piss-poor special effects(for their time they were amazing, but as a child spoiled by the 90's, it seemed pretty lame to me) and EPIC confrontation scene between Perseus and Medusa(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBtAO4dYL98). This movie is definitely one of my most anticipated, and I can't wait to catch a glimpse of it in action.

So let's open up the discussion:
    Any fans of the original?
Any fans of Worthington, Neeson or Fiennes?
Anyone just plain looking forward to this movie?

I hope that they won't fuck up the story like Troy.

I'm pretty sure "Clash of The Titans" existed before the 1981 film. Is this new movie a remake of that particular film, or is it another imagining of the classic tale?

Another Remake? hopefully this is good, it looks like it has potential though.

And Liam Neeson is an amazing actor, i think he'll make a fine Zeus.

          Plot:
A remake of the 1981 film version of the myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda.

It's all we really have to go on thus far.

          EDIT:
Some pics from the set of Sam Worthington and some set pieces:

Well, I don't think there's anyone who'll say he doesn't look bad-ass as hell. And is that Medusa to the left?!

              Thanks aris.

This film looks like it has good potential. My Dad took me to the theater to see the original back when it first came out, and it's been a favorite of mine ever since. While they may seem extremely dated now, Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion creature effects are still fun to watch. Medusa was genuinely creepy, at least to me. I hope they keep Calibos and the Stygian Witches, but I wouldn't be upset to see Bupo disappear.

Glad you made a thread about this CR29, didn't know this movie was coming out. I really like movies about this time period with my favorite being The Odyssey staring Armand Assante.

That reminds me that the story of GOW is fucking bullshit.

Holy shit. He looks epic, even though I've never seen an iteration of Zeus that didn't have white hair.

I really, really like where this is going.
