Let's not forget that 200 years passed between Ripley's sacrifice and that horrible french dream everyone had. Room for plenty of good storylines to be told.

Personally, I've always wanted to see the graphic novel Aliens: Race War made into a movie.

If it was a prequel like it says in that article it wouldn't have Ripley, which would probably be the best option in my opinion, i'm with Kronk, her story is over.

What a travesty. Alien is a well-crafted film, that still holds up to this day. Why would Hollywood feel the need to try to mess with near perfection? (I know - lack of imagination to come up with new ideas, money, etc.) But for Ridley Scott to participate with this...well, it is unfathomable.

What's next - remakes of Citizen Kane, Star Wars, The Godfather? I mean, c'mon, Alien is a classic. And it spawned the greatest sequel ever.

Code umb87...I love your avatar. Hicks is easily one of my most favorite fictional characters ever.

Star Wars could use a remake. A New Hope is really weak all things considered. . Thank god for Empire Strikes Back and especially Return of the Jedi. ROTJ is proof the third film can be the best.

Anyway, a prequel? We already kinda got that in the two AVP films. Maybe it's a continuation of those stories.

Wow. I know our opinions are vastly different, but I can't help but snicker at your claim that ROTJ is the best of the original trilogy. And I'm saying this without factoring in the atrocity that is the Ewoks.

Anyway, I hope that the "remakes" of Alien and Predator do not get made.

Empire Strikes Back is clearly the best, namely because Lucas had the least involvement. Then he gets back into the swing of things with Jedi and the fucking ewoks are in there.

Oh Luke I am your father.
I'm stilla bland, unoriginal villain though.

Then comes Return of the Jedi. And look..Vader has some depth. Dear God, a Star Wars movie with deep characters? Unthinkable I know.

Luke is also at his most pimp in ROTJ. ANH he's a farm boy with potential. In ESB he's a whiny bitch with potential. In ROTJ, he is a Jedi who will do anything to redeem Vader even knowing all the atrocities tha tman has committed.

ROTJ also finally puts to rest the Leia/Luke/Han love triangle which was absurd to begin with.

Oh and at least didn't have Hoth. ESB be a better movie without that waste of time.

I also love how ROTJ actually has the real villain as the main villain... Fancy that. McDiarmid's peformance as The Emperor was flawless. He personified evil.

Finally, Luke's and Vader's duel on the Death Star II was better than their duel on Cloud City. When Vader taunts him about turning Leia, when Luke responds by dominating his father and his ultimate refusal to give into his anger...best scene with Luke in the whole series. Why he's a man in ROTJ and a total loser in the others.

Yes, Jedi had some great scenes, but as a whole movie Empire was better.

In any case, this is an Alien thread. Let's stay on point, shall we?

This is really bad news. Theyve got a franchise, infinite ways to go about it, and they choose to remake it!

                        "Game over man, game over!"
I know right. Fucking Hollywood can go die! Unimaginative dickheads.

They should give Bill Paxton a role in the film i think, he's an awesome actor.

What are you kidding me!? A Remake of Star Wars would be the worst thing. Star Wars should never be touched, ever! And a new hope is still just as epic today as it was in 1977.

Thank the lord George Lucas bought the rights to it so we don't have to worry about any remakes of Star Wars.

I never saw what was bad about Ewoks.

But i agree Empire was better, but Jedi was still an awesome movie.

Before AVP was made, Scott and Cameron were in talks with Fox to make a new Alien film with one producing and one directing, but Fox didnt want to do it till after AVP and the two of the balked at that and left the idea for dust... didnt expect Scott to pick it back up with some sort of remake.

Plus, does that mean they'll change the alien? Giger's design, no matter what form, is fairly iconic.

I doubt they'd change the Alien design, someone would die if they did.

And can we stop the Star Wars talk. If you want to continue it, make a new topic. Star Wars=/=Alien.

Actually Ridley Scott was inspired to make Alien After he watched Star Wars.

Well, as interesting as that is, it's got nothing to do with what the topic is about.

                                Which is a prequel/reboot/remake/whatever.
