Apparently David Lynch was asked by Lucas himself to direct Return of the Jedi. As we know, Lynch went off and did Dune. I haven't seen Dune, but I've also digressed.

While I'm definitely skeptical about Rinsch directing the flick, Scott's involvement buffers that significantly. We all know how involved and attached he gets to his art, and the fact that he allows this to happen gives me an open mind. I don't really have much of an opinion on Rinsch's commercials, except it seems his recurring theme is hatching, one thing shedding to reveal inner parts/a new form. Actually, let it be said that I hate that fucking Heineken commercial, but at the very least Rinsch will probably make a mean chestburster scene. The thought of a prequel with Ripley disturbs me though; for what reason do we need to see her? I would much rather see a film involving the Space Jockey, as someone else mentioned before.

Dune is decent and yes Lucas was very impressed with David's first film Eraserhead and he offered him the third SW flick but he turned it down.

I think Scott originally intended to direct Dune. Not exactly sure what happened though, I'll have to consult Future Noir.

            A reboot "restarts" the storyline.

Based on what I've been reading, it is neither a reboot or a remake, but a true prequel.

This is good because a true prequel can add to the storyline without changing what has already transpired.

This is also bad because (IMO) the unanswered question of the Space Jockey is one of my favorite parts about the original.

Beaks here Remember that ALIEN remake Bloody-Disgusting reported on last week? Well, thanks to some pointed questioning by Collider's Steve "Frosty" Weintraub (who probably just attended his last Fox junket until Tom Rothman is tossed out...

More news there. I just don't know what to think.

Well if Ridley Scott is directing it, there is a chance it will be good then.

Also this is kind of related, but Predator 3 has been announced too. It's called "Predators".

When there are no more ideas in Entertainment, the reboots shall walk the earth.
