"It's set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It's fundamentally about going out to find out 'Who the hell was that Space Jockey?' The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer's chair ... Our man [Tom Skerritt as Captain Dallas] climbs up and says "There's been an explosion in his chest from the inside out — what was that?" I'm basically explaining who that Space Jockey — we call him the Space Jockey — I'm explaining who the space jockeys were ... [The film] is about the discussion of terraforming — taking planets and planetoids and balls of earth and trying to terraform, seed them with the possibilities of future life."
Hmm, this could be a good thing. Hell I know I wouldnt mind a new alien film. Then again this could go horribly wrong. I doubt that Weaver would make an appearence in this films since she is in her 60's (then again that didn't bother Harison Ford) so i would prefer a new main character instead.
Well i just watched avatar and so yeah.... I gues i was wrong haha Didn't know she was in the film.

I dunno what problem you have with actors of a certain age, but Weaver made Avatar (for me) worth watching. Weaver is definitely still at the top of her game. Despite being in her 60's. Can't get enough of that gal.
Anyway, Weaver mentioned at one time that she wanted to make one last Alien film set in the home planet of the 'Aliens'. And she even suggested that if said movie gets made, Ripley could be portrayed as a grey-haired woman. If she doesn't mind, neither do I.
The old dude in the movie 'UP' was pretty awersome too.
