Star Wars. Fuck Star Wars, and fuck George Lucas. If I ever had to sit through another Star Wars movie, I will gouge my eyes out with a tooth-pick.

Lord of the Rings. Has anyone here ever seen the movie 'Clerks II'? Well, that's exactly how I feel about the LOTR franchise - booooorrrriiinnng.

As for videogames - Final Fantasy, HALO, Resident Evil and WoW. I know a WoW-junkie, and wow... he really needs to get a life.
I'm 99% there with you, except when it comes to LOTR. I really like those films, but yes, especially the scarface comment. Woo!

    Back on topic people!

    • The only thing related to Star Wars I like is Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox, otherwise the movies are just overrated.

Metal Gear Solid 2 was the greatest game of all time IMO, I don't know why everyone hated Raiden, sure he was annoying at times but Big Shell was the coolest sneaking scenario ever and the background music just fit the genre perfectly. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance was a great addition, it added extra VR missions and Snake Tale missions that were endless fun.

Final Fantasy, especially 7 are by far the most overrated games IMO. Never saw what was so great about those games. A friend of mine loves FF7, I see him play and I just don't see what can be remotely interesting about it... I guess I just prefer WRPG's in general.

Call of Duty 4 single player and console play? Absolutely.

Call of Duty 4 multiplayer on PC is the most polished and balanced experience that has been created during the last couple of years. Its one of the best suited FPS games for competitive gameplay. The games engine is exceptionally scalable and can run on very old machines while still looking good. The control of the character, interaction with the map and the fluidness (fluidity? crap) of the hand-eye coordination that the game offers is incredible. There is so many things you can do at once. Ditch that controller and take a spin on the PC, then try to join a clan and go for a few S&D matches. Its an incredible experience.

          • ^ I agree there. I love COD4. I have played the PC version and own the PS3 version.

KOTOR is fucking brilliant, anyone who hates Star Wars should at least play that before judging it by the movies. Star Wars is so much more than just the movies. It's well, a universe of it's own. Id would go as far to say that KOTOR's storyline and character development is better than that of the MGS series, or at least on par with it. It's a brilliant RPG made by Bioware the makers of Mass Effect.

I agree with MGS2 as well, it's very underrated and Raiden and the Big Shell were awesome. And it had very fun gameplay as well.

Yes the online is hard at first but once you play it for a while you get good at it and then can start killing people easy. But then you take a break for a week and your skills go out the window and you play again and you suck lol. Happens to me every time.

I did like the single player in COD4 though. It was interesting.

Instead of creating a separate thread lets use this as a thread for most underrated films and games too.

I personally think that the RE Outbreak series is very underrated. And so is COD:WAW, just kinda.

Also for overrated, Guitar Hero/Rock band is definitely way overrated. It gets boring after about an hour of play time.

                  • the only time Guitar Hero or Rockband gets boring is when you play nothing but shitty songs.

                    • COD4 is one of the best multiplayer shooters this gen, and is one of the best I've ever played. The singleplayer was short and lackluster at times, but the production values were through the roof. The between-mission interface was really, really cool. And let's not forget about the AC-130 gunship level.

The multiplayer was the best I'd seen in a very long time. I picked it up the day it came out and started playing, and playing well. I ended up with something like a 1.97 K/D ratio and I quit after my 5th or 6th prestige level. The game was addictive as hell, and it kept me playing for almost 10 months after release. After a while, though, like with any game, it began to feel stale. Still...there's nothing like playing some Hardcore Search and Destroy with friends...epic stuff.

If there's anything I'd like to see in MW2, it would be a new way to level up your prestige. 55 levels over and over again with new 'badges' was pretty lame. I'd like to have some incentive to keep leveling up, even if it were new multiplayer skins or something.

Or when you're playing it by yourself.

Being with a couple of friends and playing Rock Band is fantastic. Great fun. I remember one time we were doing Blitzkrieg Bop and all our actions were in sync, it looked awesome.

                        • The problem with COD4 is that with all its perfection, the multiplayer just burns out quickly. Youll go through the game so fast and at such an engaging rate that it wont take long before youve played through all of its aspects. After that point, youre either "forced" to play the game on a higher level (competitive, semi-competitive) or just move on.

IW did a horrendous mistake of not releasing mod tools for COD4 either, even though they had the best mod manager and autodownloader on the market, installed already.

Despite believing the game is the second best competitive FPS to date (Counter Strike 1.6 leads), its short-legged and its PvP is very one-sided, even though extremely skill-dependant.

Its these reasons why Ive got over 1500 hours racked in BF2 and SWAT4 and about 400-500 in COD4.

                          • Halo's been mentioned a lot, so I guess I'll add to the list. XD

Fallout 3. I just can't get into it. Everyone raves about it, but I just didn't find much fun in it. Although I was glad to hear Liam Neeson's voice.

I just don't really like WRPGs in general, JRPGs are where it's at for me. I liked FFVII a lot, but I've only played through it once and haven't really felt the need to play through again. Definitely overrated.

                            • I agree about Fallout 3 being overrated. Its a grindfest and its firefights are unengaging. Its atmosphere is nonexistant.

STALKER is a much, much better game and was rightfully called "Oblivion with guns" in the sense that it was really that good, even though Oblivion, in my opinion, is garbage and also a grindfest.

STALKER + a couple of specific mods = That one game that youll never quit

                              • If someone hasn't said it already... Twilight is the MOST overrated film I think I've ever seen/heard of. Its such a horrible movie, yet people just LOVE it... Its a disgrace to all vampire movies out there.

As for video games I think Halo hands down is the most overrated. As well as the MGS series... and dare I say it... RE5 and RE4 are overrated as well.
