This is a fan film sequel to John Carpenter's The Thing, and by far the greatest fan film I have ever seen. Be sure to watch all 4 parts. The acting is as horrible as the voice acting from RE1, but the special effects used to create the monsters are amazing. According to one of their documentaries, they simply used newspaper and liquid latex.

Being a fan of The Thing, I really enjoyed this film.

watching it right now, but just to nitpick a little bit, wasn't "The Thing" the videogame supposed to be the actual sequel ? since it carries on from the movie's story ..

I don't think so, as far as I'm aware John Carpenter did say about being interested in a sequel. Not sure if it'll ever actually happen, though.

I tried to watch it I really did, I even made it to part 3.

Last I heard there was going to be a Prequel. It would show what happened to the Sweeds.

The Thing videogame is the pseudo sequel, but there is a prequel in production right now. It'll be about the Norwegian team that found the Alien in the first place.

              Edit: Gah! Ninja'd

Wow. The only thing I didn't like was the need to work in as many homages. The end shot referencing the poster image, the legged-head, the dinosaur thing, "who goes there?" etc. The effects were top notch, the acting you could look past, and it was quite suspenseful.

EDIT: Maybe I should strike the legged-head complaint. The dude's Spyder hat foreshadows it throughout the whole damn film. Shame on me.

I'm a really huge fan of the movie and the game. I must have watched the movie about a thousand times and I still don't get sick of it.

^ You know they were working on a sequel to the game? Unfortunately, the developer, Computer Artworks disappeared so the game was never finished.

Here's a website with written detailed info about the sequel and a few screen shots. The owner of the site is an ex developer working for the now non existent Computer Artworks.

You also might wanna look at "Red Wood". As the developer put it, it was a new The Thing game under a different title for PS3/360.

John Carpenter has actually been wanting to make a sequel to the movie for a few years now. The thing is, he wants to use the original actors, Keith David and Kurt Russell...which is awesome. Now, obviously they look alot older since that movie was almost 30 years ago. John Carpenter said he would explain in the movie that the Childs and Macready look so much older because of frostbite on the face due to element exposure for so long. If they make another game, they should make it uh...better. Imagine if they made it like Doom 3, walking around with the flamethrower
