What, imported games on disc? God, I hope so...I own enough of the damned things. I also own an American PS2 to run them on, of course.

And remember, we have a strict 'Inforced holiday' policy here on THIA for admitting to piracy of all sorts. I'm warning you this time but admit to it again and I will have to ban you.
Warn and Ban me for what?, I haven't provided anybody with any roms / games nor have I given them links to do so apart from free demos / trials what I happen to do in personal time shouldn't effect this site anyway, I ain't gonna lie and make myself out to be mr goody two shoes either. I never said rom / game downloading sites where legal either apart from "games older than ten years out of print and not protected by ESA" games still covered by ESA or are younger than ten years are most defiantly illegal and the illegal sites that do and still survive are either hosted offshore not covered by laws or simply the game company doesn't know or doesn't care enough to bother.
If you own the game and back it up instead of downloading it, I don't see how that would be deemed as piracy all your doing is preserving the life of your game in case it happens to become broken / damaged you've got a permanent digital copy of it forever if you have it stored on your hdd for your own enjoyment the piracy law only comes into effect if you distribute that copy to someone else imo. It's the same as game modification they say your not allowed to modify games in anyway but who the hell are they to tell me what I can and can't do with my pursuche I'm not profiting from it in anyway it's for my own personal enjoyment, I don't buy a packet of chips only to be told I can't put them inside chippy butty bap do I?

Admitting to piracy, as seen during the release of Degeneration, is something we take seriously. And, yes, usually ban folks for it. I figured I wouldn't, since you said they were all over ten years old and just give your a warning, but it is against the rules.

I'm not even sure it's right to use an emulator even if you own the game, if the console is still an active platform.
Well, FYI, you're looking in the wrong 90%. I know how to dump PSX images, and I've dumped my whole RE collection onto my HDD ages ago, in case I wanted to play them on PC emulators, which is unlikely since I have a PSX of my own.

I don't need to download images. Stop accusing me of piracy. I'm really not as bad as maybe half the members on this board. I just admit to it more.

Your talking in tongues Darkmoon all the media, pictures, videos presented on this site can be deemed as illegal going by your logic go read your booklets where it says "unauthorized reproduction" that counts as recording footage of yourself playing the game and uploading it on here or on youtube as well showing pictures of various stages / game characters too you know as well as directly ripping cuts scenes to uploaded to the video section yet capcom themselves now have this site listed as a trusted resident evil fan site simply put they don't give a fuck.

there's no difference between the above and if I wanted to upload a full rip of degeneration or any of the live action films.

Alright, thinking about it I could probably play my PC copies of RE2 and RE3, and emulate my PSX copies of RE1 and Survivor.

Is there any way to set up what's playing on your screen as a "webcam"?

You'll have to ask Dot about that. My instructions are simple...if you're supposed to pay cashy money to get hold of something, such as a sound track, game or movie then it's against the site rules. Using things like images is apparently covered by 'Fair Use' which basically means Dot is paying for access to the media and not profiting from it, and so he can use for it a free website. Such as Brian Clenvinger using the old Final Fantasy sprites for Nuklear Power.

Somehow I suspect Capcom wouldn't be quite so impressed if we have all the RE games up for download along with Degeneration. I very much doubt we'd be linked on the main site, as you pointed out.

But at the end of the day, and you'll have to argue with Dot over this, the rules here state any downloads of retail games, music and movies is banned here, as is admitting to them. The punihsment is a month long ban.

When have I ever stated I want widely available retail games hosted on this site? never :-P not to mention the fact there still covered by ESA due them being reused for the PS3 store downloads, Gamecube re-releases, Wii re-releases etc there isn't a single title outside the perceived out of print ten year rule either.

Curiously, is there a way to stream your desktop on a site like Justin.tv, ustream or livestream with a decent framerate? I tried streaming a pro run of some Hitman Blood Money levels to some friends online last night and the framerate was atrocious, about 1 frame per 5 seconds. I couldn't edit the stream settings because you need to upgrade to a 'pro' account. It was streaming in my native resolution so i changed the desktop and game resolution as low as possible to see if that helped and it didn't. Is it just likely to be my PC being dated that's causing this?

More importantly, what is the upload speed on your internet connection?

Well because i was using a free account on Livestream, it was capped at 400kps.

Do an actual speed test using dslreports or whatever the norm is now. It takes quite the connection to stream with any quality (let alone if Livestream is capping you, if its even using your full connection)
