WWE Officials Hopeful For Michaels Return At WrestleMania

Former WWE star Shawn Michaels was forced into retirement after losing his WrestleMania rematch against The Undertaker back in March and he’s been very firm that his days in the ring are over.

Michaels returned to the road last week promoting ticket sales for WrestleMania XXVII in Atlanta, Georgia. Both he and Triple H made numerous public appearances throughout the city, with HBK addressing his current WWE status in interviews. Michaels said he was happy with his career and that he went out on top. He was asked to help promote the event since most of the top WWE stars were overseas touring.

Company officials want to continue utilizing Michaels as they are hopeful he returns at the event to appear as a special guest referee for a match involving The Undertaker. Creative has a storyline in mind where Michaels would have the opportunity to gain revenge on The Deadman by ending his undefeated streak at WrestleMania. However, said plans are extremely tentative due to the SmackDown star recently undergoing shoulder surgery. It’s said to be touch-and-go on whether he’ll be healthy enough to compete in a singles match at the event.

Creative has a worst-case scenario in place which would involve him teaming with Kane in a multi-man tag team match against The Nexus where he could be protected.

What Happened After RAW & Lots More Live Notes

        - Prior to Monday’s Old School RAW, two matches were taped for Superstars:

        * Melina and Gail Kim vs. Maryse and Alicia Fox

        * Yoshi Tatsu vs. Primo.

CM Punk joined the announcer’s table during these matches.

        - After RAW went off the air, Randy Orton got up and took out Wade Barrett with an RKO. The advertised dark match main event of Orton vs. Barrett vs. Sheamus vs. John Cena did not take place.

        - With Mae Young’s win over LayCool on last night’s RAW, she becomes the only pro wrestler in history to compete in nine decades! Mae Young has wrestled matches in the 1930′s, 1940′s, 1950′s, 1960′s, 1970′s, 1980′s, 1990′s, 2000′s and now the 2010′s. Congratulations to her on this historic achievement.

        - Based on several live reports sent in from fans who were at RAW, Jim Ross got the loudest pop of the night by far. Randy Orton and Slick also got big reactions from the crowd.

        - Not much happened during the commercial breaks aside from a few Kiss Cam segments.

        - The Iron Sheik came down the ring in a wheelchair. He had a very tough time entering and exiting the ring.

        - Overall everybody said it was a fun night and the crowd was very into the whole show.

        - WWE Legends who appeared on last night’s RAW were Jim Ross, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snukka, Howard Finkel, Mean Gene Okerlund, Slick, Ted DiBiase, Dusty Rhodes, George “The Animal” Steele, The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, IRS, Tito Santana, Cowboy Bob Orton, Ron Simmons, Tony Atlas, Tatanka, Arn Anderson, Gerald Brisco, Mae Young, the Brooklyn Brawler, Harvey Whippleman and Chavo Classic.

Talk Of Another Old School Raw, Diva Interested In Joining Nexus

        – There is talk that if WWE officials are satisfied with the rating for last night’s “Old School” episode of Raw, they’ll hold another one next year.

The show garnered an overall cable rating of 3.1, and a 3.2 during its regular time slot. The show averaged a 3.1 cable rating the prior five weeks.

        – The Nov. 13 episode of A.M. Raw scored a 0.47 cable rating, with 516,000 viewers.

        – Eliminated NXT season three contestant Maxine set a manipulated photo of herself donning a Nexus T-shirt as her avatar on Twitter. She teasingly wrote “Never know!!” in regards to joining the faction.

          • CM Punk Injury Update, Bryan-JR, Skip Sheffield Update

            - Daniel Bryan posted a message on Twitter about WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross calling his match on Monday’s “Old School” RAW:

“Just watched Monday’s RAW. Jim Ross is still the absolute BEST. It was an honor and a thrill to hear him to do commentary on my match.”
            - Nexus member Skip Sheffield is still on crutches after suffering a broken ankle back in August. His injury is expected to keep him out of action for at least 3 more months.

            - After choosing physical rehabilitation instead of surgery to heal his torn glute muscle, CM Punk is now considered a “sure thing” for WrestleMania. He could return as soon as January. Punk will be joining the ringside announcing team on this week’s Superstars and will likely continue that function until he’s healthy.

Homicide Talks Politics In TNA, Being Miserable & His Release

Former TNA star Homicide was interviewed by Canada’s Slam Wrestling and spoke candidly about his release from the company. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Politics In TNA, Being Miserable & His Eventual Release:

“I’m not going to lie to you, I was telling my girlfriend honesty, it hurts everybody. When I speak the truth, it hurts. I didn’t say anything aggressive. I was frustrated in the end. I’m very confident that I can do better. Politics just got me in the butt and just caught me. I was miserable at the end of my days in TNA, I didn’t like it.”
Despite all that, Homicide looks back fondly on his time in TNA. He told Slam, “I miss the boys, I miss the staff, I miss everything,” he said. “I became a smarter businessman when I went to TNA.”

Working With Hernandez & Konan In Mexico:

“He’s in Mexico right now, he’s still in TNA, but he’s doing more coverage in Mexico. There’s a big rumor that me, Hernandez and Konnan are going to do the 5150 tour in Mexico, and hopefully we’re going to bring it to the States and we’re going to have a LAX reunion.”

                – Those released last week by WWE were informed they were victims of budget cuts across the organization.

The confirmed list of those cut is as follows: Shad Chad Javier Romane Chittick Gaspard (a/k/a Shad Gaspard), Andrew Hankinson (a/k/a Luke Gallows), Kris Pavone (a/k/a Caylen Croft), Lance Hoyt (Vance Archer), Jillian Faye Farole (a/k/a Jillian Hall), Taryn Nicole Terrell (a/k/a Tiffany), creative write Christopher DeJoseph (a/k/a Big Dick Johnson), and referee Aaron “Goose” Mahoney.

                – Today marks the twentieth anniversary of the official on-camera debut of The Undertaker. At the 1990 Survivor Series, he was introduced as the mystery partner of “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase’s “Million $ Team.”

                – The term “John Cena fired” was the fifth most searched for term on Google.com last night, with “Survivor Series” placing in thirteenth.

Trish Stratus Congratulates Natalya, Paul London Update, More

                – Multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus congratulated Natalya on winning the Divas Championship last night at the Survivor Series, her first title capture in the company.

She wrote on Twitter: “Big PPV last nite! Congrats to my girl @natbynature on becoming new Divas Champ–so proud! And welcome back @thebethphoenix…I see some good wrestling on the horizon ~T”

Beth Phoenix, who saved Natalya from a Lay-Cool beatdown following the match, added, “Congrats Nattie. Few people know how hard and long you worked for this moment. I’m so proud of you, my friend. Enjoy your moment.”

                – Former WWE star Paul London and his brother have made it to the final round of casting for a spot on the CBS reality game show The Amazing Race. They’ll know soon if they make the cast.

Jim Ross Blogs About Sunday’s Survivor Series PPV

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Ross spoke at length about Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

The Finish of the Main Event: “The conclusion of the Survivor Series seemed to provide more questions than answers regarding the focal point of the promotion, the free or fired stipulation put on John Cena. One has to assume that there will be significant follow up on this matter on Monday Night Raw from Orlando. Will we be surprised at what we hear on Raw? Will Cena indeed be leaving WWE? How could Cena be reprieved?”

Kaval vs. Dolph Ziggler: “Good to see Kaval compete in a WWE PPV bout after all his year’s of paying his dues. I like Kaval’s style and have always been a fan of Ziggler’s in ring work. Dolph had some excellent bouts with Rey Mysterio a year or so ago and I feel that Kaval could also really light it up versus Rey down the road.”

Morrison vs. Sheamus: “Morrison vs. Sheamus featured two men that WWE has seemingly advanced more at this time than some of the aforementioned athletes and Morrison upsetting Sheamus surprised me. I did not see that one coming which made the match end up being more enjoyable. IMO Morrison has a ‘touch’ of a young HBK in him in some shape, form or fashion and we can only hope that some day Morrison will be compared to the legendary Shawn Michaels in more detail. However, there are miles to travel before that might happen as performers like HBK come along once in a generation if we’re lucky. Nonetheless, the more physical Morrison is the better I personally like him as opposed to the more ‘finesse’ version of Morrison. John was very physical at Survivor Series.”

“Sheamus is a keeper, without question, whose best days are obviously still ahead of him even though Sheamus has had a taste of what it’s like to be WWE Champion. And, yes, I get the fact that Sheamus is the first “Irish born WWE Champion.” Got it. Check. 10-4.”

Mr. Anderson Likely Sidelined Until 2011, Hogan Weds, James

                – After suffering a concussion last month as a result of an accidental chair shot from Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson isn’t expected to return to the ring until early next year. With that being said, it’s been indicated that he’s feeling better and he may take part in some angles before then.

                – It would appear that Hulk Hogan has gotten married as he indicated the following yesterday on his Twitter account: “Sitting outside with my dogs and new awesome Mrs Hogan.the waves are crashing and life is beautiful.only positive vibes.like attracts like HH.”

It was recently reported that Hogan and Jennifer McDaniel had applied for a marriage license in the state of Florida.

                – Mickie James will be performing songs from her country music album and taking part in a meet and greet this Saturday at Cullen’s Cove, which is located at 6233 Mechanicsville Tpke. Mechanicsville, Virginia 23111.

HBK Reveals Why He Doesn’t Watch Wrestling, Tiffany Update

                – Shawn Michaels noted on Twitter last night that he would not be watching the Survivor Series, writing:

“I won’t be watchin SS I’m way out of touch w/whats goin on so I can’t really give u any predictions.2 those who watch hope u enjoy. Didn’t watch much when I was doin it. Gettin 2 absorbed makes u less objective IMO. Felt I cud think out of box more that way. That’s what worked 4 me jus an opinion. Who knows diff strokes 4 diff folks. That seemed 2 work 4 me. If it aint broke don’t fix it. The important thing is that U ALL enjoy it. Shudnt matter what I thinl anyway. We r 2 provide a service 4 u, bottom line.”
Michaels posted a follow-up message after being questioned over his comments. He revealed that he no longer watches wrestling.

“That’s why I don’t talk/watch wrestling w/u all. Everybody starts playing psychologist. Holy cow its not that deep. Pretty simple 4 me. God called me home. I went home. That’s about the extent of it. No deep feelings of guilt, despair, longing.

“Just done wrestling. Sorry its not romantic enuff 4 sum of u. Works 4 me tho. Altho I’m pretty simple. So there u go.”
                – Tiffany will give her first post-WWE interview tonight on MondayNightMayhem.com.

Yeah I've read about the Royal Rumble match going to have 40 Superstars in it, instead of the usual 30. I'm looking foward to seeing how it would turn out.

-The Rock is back! Well, we'll see how involved he is with the WWE, but for one thing he looks to be in great shape, and for another, he cut a monstrous promo. Unfortunately, while his appearance was impressive, it kinda put into perspective how feeble the roster looks right now in terms of charisma.
