I didn't say you had to be a child to enjoy it, i merely said the one handed cockerspaniel applesauce slam was awesome (Which it clearly is with a name like that!)
While i respect your opinion on Wrestling being akin to Theatre and Ballet in terms of performance art i'm going to have to respectfully disagree. Like you said, there's an awful lot of cruitidy involved in professional wrestling that just doesn't sit well with me. Comparing it to ballet just seems obtuse, since the choreography in ballet is tight, precise and well executed. In Wrestling, it just seems sloppy. There's a rawness to it that probably appeals to some people, but no matter how professional these people are it still looks sloppy and amateur.
When i used to watch Wrestling (The first match i ever saw was WCW Sting Vs Big Van Vader, i was about 6 years old and i remember Sting breaking a rib or something...) it didn't try to be anything more than a bunch of guys with funny names dressed in funny costumes pretending to beat ten balls of shit out of each other. It was tongue in cheek, fun and funny, now i just find it plain funny and not for the reasons i just mentioned.
I'd agree that it was a slightly impressive spectacle then, but not now. I'm not sure if that is because my perspective on it has changed due to age or wether it genuinely has gotten more oafish and stupid. My money is on the latter, though.
But yes, that's merely my two cents on the matter. I'm sure it won't have the slightest impact on your enjoyment of Wrestling (as it shouldn't) but i just thought i'd put that out there.
