We're not arguing. I don't see any insults or flames anywhere (other than him calling me "sickening"), and I've made my opinion clear. Nothing wrong with a debate.

I don't really know much of this person's work but I've heard of Ferris Bueller's day off. It seems he has a lot of fans so it's a shame he's passed.

I think thats the real issue thats caused your disagreement.

I mean I'm not going to sit here argue that his passing isn't any different than some child I don't know dying of starvation or disease somewhere else in the world, as you mentioned, but then your own comments about MJ for example of someone you felt sadden by because you enjoyed his work is not really different.

Hughes has fans, but not just "oh wow" great director ones... hes one of those 'directors who inspired directors' thing - like Hitchcock, Kubrick, Spielburg, Lucas, etc. You may not know Hughes films, but I can guarentee his 8 directed films and other produced ones have impacted on a director of something you do like.

I didn't say I was sad about MJ 'cause I like his work. I was sad because I think he was a very nice person and the way he was treated just reminded me of a child being bullied in school. He was just so unhappy and it seems all he wanted to do is help people, genuinely. That's the reason I was sad; that such a kind hearted soul was treated so terribly by everyone and died an unhappy man. His work doesn't really have anything to do with it. And I didn't mourn him either, it was just saddening.

And fair enough, he probably has done great work. But that doesn't make him anymore important than anyone else, and it doesn't make me, or any other of the 2 members who are desensitized to this "sickening", as missv put it.
