Travis Barker should've died in that plane crash. He's a commercialized poser and one of the many reasons I stopped liking "punk" music.

Punk started in the late 70's - early 80's and was a way of life and attitude, not about looking in the mirror for 30 minutes trying to see if your mohawk is evenly combed enough to go on stage while being on a global TV commercial.

All of the members of Blink 182 and other lame (as I call them, pussy punk) bands like Fall Out Boy deserve the most excruciating death possible for ruining the name of what punk was really about.

I kinda wish this thread was about Celebrity deaths in general, not just ones from 2009. I'd like to pay homage to some of my favorite Black Metal & Death Metal musicians who were murdered, died of natural causes and/or health problems, and suicide.

Other bands dont kill other bands. Only one at fault is the band itself for not adapting and evolving. Stay the same in anything, punk or not, and it is bound to die off.

Add Patrick Swayze to the list.

Patrick Swayze died today after a long battle with cancer. He was 57.

He'd battled pancreatic cancer for a while, and lost this evening at his home. He was 57. Too young to die. Ghost is a very good movie...and I think I'll honor his memory by watching it some time this week.

Rest in peace Patrick. He is probably one of the few action stars that never caused controversy. He has a great library of movies as well. He will be missed.

Kinda creepy (and very sad) how a lot of big names seems to've gone away in 2009 (not that there aren't many every year, but it seems like a lot of big names dropped this year)

So... how do we end this year? Queen Elizabeth throwing in the towel on New Year's eve?

I shall watch Too Wong Foo in memory of Mr. Swayze.

There's nothing like the memory of my first drag film...*sigh*

NOOO!...This saddens me a great deal. I used to get Swayze and Kurt Russel mixed up when I was a kid so I grew to love them both lol. I myself will watch one of my favorite movies in his memory, The Outsiders.

Last night, the LA Angels clinched the American League West Division and celebrated as any team would, with a giant champagne and beer party in their locker room. For the Angels, though, it's different than just another division title. Back in April, their 22-year old teammate Nick Adenhart was killed in a drunk driving accident.

All season long, the Angels have honored their teammate by hanging his jersey in the clubhouse, wearing his number 34 on their chests, and playing hard in his honor. No tribute was as telling as last night's, however:

Mid-celebration, the team left their clubhouse and ran out to the wall in right-center field where a memorial for Adenhart has been all year long:

I'm a Yankee fan. I hate the Angels, but seeing this made me smile for some reason.

I'm appalled but a wrestler I always liked died several months ago. Test, Andrew Martin, died back in March...in Tampa which is where I just moved last month.

I miss the man and am paying him tribute the only way I can; waching and reliving all his great moments and matches.
R.I.P Andrew "Test" Martin. You Will Truly Be MissedTest was an awesome wrestler and very charismatic. His tagteam with Albert and his stint with Stacy Keible...

A tribute to Andrew "Test'' Martin. Thank You Test and Rest In Peace. You will be missed. ALL RIGHTS BELONG TO WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT!! I OWN NOTHING!!!

                                *Bump*

Seems like 2009's claimed another somewhat known face. This time it's BoyZone's "Stephen Gately" who's died. You know, the one of the two lead singers who wasn't Ronan Keating (Wikipedia confirming what I already somehow knew... Why did I remember that? Don't remember if he was the only homosexual in that boyband, though, but he kinda was a bit of a big media figure for his sexuality when he started talking about it.)

Anyway, this one certainly went under the radar it seems. Guess the fact that he didn't die of some extreme substance abuse, murder or suicide just didn't make it frontpage and "let's cover this every day for the next week"-worthy.
