Whew...okay, after reading it over a few more times, I can see that the rumors about Zac Efron were reported false by the directors themselves. That's a nice thing to hear.
But no one mentioned a damn thing about Tetsuo being renamed or Kaneda having a last name. For God's sake. I know you guys have to aim for an audience outside the fans, but FUCK. TRAVIS? ARE AMERICANS SO FUCKING NARROW MINDED THEY NEED A JAPANESE NAME "AMERICANIZED"(SEE: COMPLETELY CHANGED) OR THEY WONT IDENTIFY? "TETSUO" JUST WOULDNT SOUND AS COOL AS TRAVIS, HUH?
Not sure about Morgan Freeman as The Colonel either. While his demeanor would fit perfectly, why can't they just cast good Japanese actors like the way the characters are? You know, ETHNICALLY JAPANESE.
Oh, and my favorite anime is Serial Experiments Lain at the moment. Very deep and heavy series... I'm going to have to rewatch it to catch the multitude of ideas and things I missed.
