Disney is buying out Marvel...

I don't see this changing anything, beyond just making it slightly less of a modern licensing nightmare whenever someone's attempting to do stuff such as Marvel vs Capcom. (Let's add Beast, Tarzan, Aladdin, Jafar, Tron, Clu, or something... yes...)

Actually, with projects such as "Epic Mickey" and "Kingdom Hearts" being out there, it'd be kinda interesting to see if Marvel would be allowed to do their own "takes" on Disney characters and storylines too.

(Now, as long as Kingdom Hearts stays the heck away from Marvel, for now, it should be all good. The whole Pirates of the Caribbean and Tron segments of KH2 were... out-of-place enough.... Though, it was nice to see that Tron wasn't forgotten, and we've got Legacy comin' now)

I dunno, National Treasure and National Treasure 2 had lots of guns and violence. If you're really worried about that, don't be.

Also, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies had whores (remember Tortuga?) and violence and sexual innuendo. If you're worried about them being kiddy, don't be.

On top of that, the Kingdom Hearts games (which are awesome, mind you) have tons of monster-bashing, be it with slamming them with a giant key or blasting them with magic. Cartoony, sure, but hey, it's still violence. Not to mention the announcement of that new steampunkish Disney game.

And like JcFFx said, Disney still makes good movies. I love their cartoons and movies. Aladdin's my favorite Disney movie of all time, though. I could watch that forever.

I really have faith in this move. Most people think just because the studio is called Disney that the Marvel films now will be like rated G or something which they won't, at least I hope not. Disney also owns Touchstone pictures, Pixar, Miramax, and Dimension films which have produced films for various audiences.

The Spider-Man comics are kind of offensive imo. I wouldn't give one to a kid. Maybe a teenager, but which normal teenager's gonna want to read about Spider-Man? Maybe Disney and Marvel will cancel each other out, making it not too kiddie and not too vulgar.

If you're worried about them being kiddy, don't be.

But super heroes are for kids. This is like those Star Wars or Transformers fans who think the next movies are aimed squarely at them. You're supposed to grow out of those things or accept them for what they are.

Ignoring the more childish posts, I agree that this is a sound business move for both Disney and Marvel.
It'll raise Marvel up a notch via Merchandising, and also give them more options for their own brand, especially when it comes to games and movie production and distribution.

I highly doubt Disney will influence content in anyway, especially when you consider it *Disney* also owns studio production companies like Miramax and the content that their company makes.

Personally I was at first in shock, but then I realised a pro from this move, its possible Marvel will now have Access to Pixar, in which case that can only be good.

*And for the more cynical, lets rephrase things this way, Warner Bros have owned DC for Donkeys years, do you see Batman throwing Carrots instead of Batarangs? Didn't think so.*

Sums it up i think. I think most people that heard it were orignally shocked and maybe slightly concerned at first, but it's great what a bit of rational thought brings to the situation.

As long as Stan Lee and some of the to execs at Marvel are still there to run things then there is nothing to worry about. I think in the end this is a good move and don't think Disney will mess with a good thing.
