I also heard rumors for Robert Pattinson. Levitt is great though.

Really, no offense but Peter Park needs to be played by an American. That would be like having an American play James Bond.

Mark Webb Directing The New Spider-Man?

Marc Webb, the director of 500 Days Of Summer is now the frontrunner for the job.

So it looks like Spider-Man: The Musical will get made after all...on the big screen, as opposed to Broadway.

Yeah, fuck a director for trying to do something different. Fuck him up his stupid ass. God forbid a B-horror movie guy such as Peter Jackson try and direct an oscar worthy epic trilogy or...

tbh, he is a good director. But, the fact (if) he's going to do it will be pretty unsettling to many. Rather than up the hatred for a good director (who doesn't deserve any of it at all, imo, you know you see it coming), why can't we just not reboot Spidy at all?

So... we're getting MTV's finest or something to do the job? Anyway, nothing wrong with having someone do a bit of a spin on things, but this really smells like an attempt to just throw something together as fast as possible. (Aahah. Did I see James Cameron's name there? Yeah... no. Cameron's got some Battle Angel to do. Kthx.)

Okay, so I know that's meant as a bit of a joke, but I think it's worth pointing out that Peter Jackson also had Heavenly Creatures, Forgotten Silver and The Frighteners tied to his name. Looking at that + his old stuff; it's easier to see why Peter Jackson was a good choice for LotR than trying to comprehend why anyone would want Marc Webb anywhere near SpiderMan. As far as I can see... it's probably just a case of him being a semi-hot name right now and possibly dirt cheap.

Spidey reboot will aim to be "gritty" and "contemporary."
