  • Spider Man 3 bombed, so it's time for a reboot.

They seem to have forgotten the whole 'giving the franchise a rest before rebooting so people forget what annoyed them' bit...in this case, I know I was annoyed by the extra emo in the third film. So, of course, the reboots answer is to add more emo...

Um, no. Maguire, Dunst and Raimi were all signed on for three more sequels and were waiting for script approval last January when Sony scrapped the entire thing and decided to reboot everything. You think Tobey Maguire got tired of $20+ million for each movie? Odds are, no.

i didn't say that was the reason. i just stated that actors get tired of reprising their role.

          • Looks okay in comparison albeit more dark than I'd prefer. Something's off about that symbol though.

            • Biggest news in this image:

Web-shooters on his wrists. Looks like this version will stay true to the original comic.

              • Uhhhhhh... Wasn't looking at the web shooters when you typed "Biggest news in this image".

                But thank you for that...

We also have to see how Lizard and the other round up will fare to these guys.

And in regards to our ladies. I know Mary Jane won't be in the next film, but in the near future let's see who plays MJ for this reboot franchise. I'd even like to see Black Cat one of these days.

How the fuck can a company do this? Don't they have rules for such contracts? And are they thinking that "rebooting" the franchise will bring more viewers than making more sequels with the original cast? People are not stupid, changes are clearly bad.

                    • He's proven himself to be a good actor, but that doesn't guarantee the film itself will be any good.

                      • out of the live action villians so far, Doc Ock is still my favorite. Green Goblin in the first film was good, but the actor who portrayed it did a rather cheesy job outside of the costume, even though it was barely even the first film to release.

                          This.

If anyone is in doubt about that universal truth... then let him/her rent Istar, Caligula, The Conqueror (with John Wayne) and other crap films that waste talent.

                          • Some of you are too easy to please with that picture, it's a calculated piece of marketing at this stage. Hell the movie doesn't even have a name yet and they've released that still in the hopes it'll squash some of the negative comments out there. Don't fall for it.

It's still an all too soon and completely unnecessary reboot being handled entirely to cash in on the original three movies financial good will (they are Sony's highest money maker in cinema after all). I'll eat my words if it does turn out good but right now this has a billion chance to one that it'll be anything decent given at which the speed this has been tracked through production.

                            • Well, everyone was skeptical about Daniel Craig being the new James Bond (specially that he didn't even fit the physical features). Look what happened after he did the first movie...
