  • The trailer isnt bad...but it feels kind of empty. Doesnt have the affection in it that Sam Raimi had for the series and it shows.

I give Mark Webb Credit for trying some new ideas on showing Spiderman moving around and all, but this is still a very unnecessary remake.

      • So 75% of the movie is Spider-man 1 again. I'll pass on this, SPidey my number one comic book hero but this fails to grab my attention at all, even Spidey 3 grabbed my attention, it just ended up not being worth it.

        • Wow. Color me completely shocked when they showed a full-length trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man before Captain America tonight(I haven't read this thread and didn't see the leak). It actually looks pretty incredible. Here's a synopsis until it comes online officially: the first half showed Peter as a child and his parents leaving, and never coming back...then some shots of him and Gwen in high school, eating dinner at Gwen's house, some shots of Dr. Connors...and then the coup de grace -- around 20-30 seconds of first-person web-swinging through the city, ending with him swinging to a building with mirrored windows, getting a perfect view of him and the screen goes black to show THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, 7/3/2012.

EDIT 2: Nevermind. G4's got it now. http://www.g4tv.com/videos/54284/The...-2011-Trailer/

              • I really think its not needed, i love the current movies, and this just doesnt do much for me. I think Toby was perfect, and it was nerdy fun, this looked like no emotion and yeah. Just have to wait and see, Ill still see it, just dont think I need to see the story again.

                • If you all dont want the film to succeed dont see it, make sure you get others to not watch it too. Thats the only way to kill a reboot really.

                  • Director Marc Webb showed off a bunch of footage at Comic-Con, including a first look at The Lizard. IGN posted very positive impressions:

Webb also gave us our first look at The Lizard, by way of a highlight reel of sorts illustrating the villain's origins. Basically Connors, as the world's leading expert in reptiles, is looking to genetic splicing as a means to grow back his missing arm. He uses himself as a test case, and the results lead to Connors growing back his arm, after shedding a very sticky, very gross layer of skin around the new limb.

He then starts growing a network of scaly flesh on his face before finding himself naked and in the sewers, screaming as the final transformation takes over.

Two girls are in the bathroom stall of their school bathroom, preparing to burn a snap shot of a cheating boyfriend, when the tile beneath them quakes and shatters. The toilet is violently yanked underground and, in its place, a large reptilian claw reaches out... Then another, and The Lizard eventually pulls himself topside. The character looks equal parts Killer Croc, Raptor and Koopa as he menaces the two girls against the far wall, his tail snapping back and forth as he makes inappropriate gestures with his tongue.

                        I'll explain it for ya:

When Spiderman 3 was in Pre-Production Sam Raimi turned in the script for the movie to the Studio heads. They read the script loved it and said 'This is a really good script: Where's Venom?".

Venom was shoe horned into the script, which caused the script itself to get chopped up, all because the studios pretty much forced the character to be put into the film.

Raimi was going to focus on The Sandman and Harry Osborne as villains, as well as spiderman himself struggling with the suit.

Well...This cut out all kinds of character from the film and made everything feel off and choppy because of it.

Raimi was forced into using a character he didn't want to use, or like, in the film and essentially venom ruined the movie.

Despite the fact the movie made like...600 million dollars, the studio was upset with Raimi for not being able to make something that was as critically acclaimed as the previous Spiderman film, as well as all the anger from the venom fans.

They also didn't like Raimis proposed villain for the 4th film, the Vulture.

So after they told him to write out a treatment for the 4th film, they told him shortly afterwards 'to go take a hike'.

So yeah, the studio took over, chose to reboot and now this film is on its way. If you dont like it, dont see it. And if you can, get a handful of friends to not see it.

Only way to really kill this is to get people to not watch the movie.

                        • ...........Wow, so that what really happened? They really were angered at him for forcing him to make a mistake? What. The. Fuck.

                          • People blame the studios for Spider-man 3 but honestly Raimi knew full well what the fans want...Venom. But he ignored the character. The studios were on the fans side, Raimi is to blame.

Yeah its Raimi's fault the Studio forced him to shoehorn in a character.-_-
