    Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help with my region problem?

I've recently decided to revisit some of my classic PS1 titles especially my ntsc imports including a few of the biohazard series but I've hit a brick wall, my new 37" samsung hd ready lcd tv seems to be having trouble with any of my ntsc or ntsc-j games,The console im playing them on is region free but obviously the games are displayed in black and white, to resolve this problem I purchased an rgb compatible scart lead(which was advertised as a perfect solution to my problem) anyway after firing up one of my imported games I was relieved to see the scart had passed the color test,my relief quickly turned to dissapointment when I noticed the screen kept flickering quite violently every second or so, I thought it best to try a pal game to see if the problem was within the cable....it wasnt

In short can anyone offer me any advice as to why this is happening and wether or not the problem lies within the tv or the product? Because i dont really fancy digging out the old 16" portable to play my back catalogue on
    thanks in advance

Sounds odd. What type of Samsung 37" do you have? (I take it it's a PAL one at least, since you're having these issues with NTSC games and using a SCART lead).

I personally have a set of 32" and 40" Samsung LCDs that I've never had any problems with NTSC input on (be it SCART, COMPOSITE or component and on my PS1 or PS2 - heck, I've not even had a PAL TV for the past 15 years that has had issues with NTSC ), so I'm not sure why you're encountering these issues.

It could be your mod solution that is the problem. Not sure if you're using a PS1 or a PS2 for playing these PS1 games on, but I vaguely seem to recall there being a set of PS2 mod chips that contains forced display modes (which can cause problems with certain display/software combinations)

Also, on the back of your TV, which of the two SCART inputs are you using? Try to swap them. If I'm not mistaken, your TV allows for pass-through output of signals in one of the two SCART inputs, so maybe you're experiencing some sort of interference... I'd try to hook up the composite again too, just to double check.

Also, try to check your TV's settings... or google the model number + something like "NTSC input problems" and see if anyone else is experiencing anything similar.

I'll have to check my exact model when I get back from my parents but its definetly pal.
I'm using a pal ps1 but lost my xplorer cartridge and xploder disc,so ive ordered another cartridge but right now ive been using the disc swap technique(which suddenly stopped working after my inital test run of my new rgb cable)
So far ive only had the oppurtunity to try the cable in the rgb port as my ntsc games stopped working after the intial run!!
I'll definetly try out your suggestions though.

thanks for your help hopefully i wont have to resort to my old portable tv lol
