This thread is for anyone who wishes to post any poetry that they have written. Here's one of mine, I hope you enjoy it!

    Silence

Silence says more than you can ever say.
No matter how you try as you may
In the end you cannot lie
The truth deep inside yourself you can't deny

    Silence speaks the unspoken
    Like a still pond unbroken
Giving the very air itself mass
Shattering the hardest hearts like glass

Silence is the death of us all
Destroying all of our inner walls
So then we see each other true
    Revealing the true you

    Silence is who we are
All of us near and far

Good thread (and a good starting post)! I'll bite!

This is actually a lyric to a song of mine, but it's much more 'poetic' (and I use that term loosely) than many of my others, so I'll go ahead and post it here:

    GRAY DAY
WORDS & MUSIC BY: DAN CORSON

Gray day but I can take it
If not I'll have to fake it
Looking through my window I see the beauty of the rain
Wet heat; A full moon rising
    It's beautiful but not surprising
Staring out my window I feel the color of your pain

    Although the Earth's not quaking
    Nothing can stop our shaking
Gazing out into the eyes of night

It's so dark but I'm not hiding
I just don't feel like fighting
Singing through the thunder I hear your beautiful refrain
    Sleeping colors at the hillside
Please don't go until I'm outside
As you pass me by I listen to all you have to say

    Although the Earth's not quaking
    Nothing can stop our shaking
Gazing out into the great divide
Sad; But I can't help laughing
    Although our lives are passing
Moving forward right before our eyes

Gray day but I can take it
If not I'll try and fake it
Sitting at my window hearing the falling of the rain
So sweet; The sun is rising
To stop the sky from crying
Drying up the water as it washes down the drain...

That was beautiful. How do you get inspired to write? Mine are kind of random...

Hmm... Hard to say, really. More often than not, they just kind of pop out. This one, however, was prompted by a rainy day writing session. I was playing my piano and looking out the glass doors in my living room, watching the rain. A couple minutes later, I had this!

        What about yours?

          Unknown Love

I sit in my chair one silent and ominous night
There was a show on TV that gave me a fright
Yet I remained bored just like everyday
Then a beautiful brunette woman came inside to stay
          "Who are you?" I asked

This woman had a very beautiful face and brown eyes
No woman could surpass this beauty, that is no lie
She remained silent like I do
Inside the house it was only us two
          "Who are you?" I asked

Then she moved closer and gave me a sweet kiss
The moment lasted an eternity through marvellous bliss
Abruptly she left breaking her promise she made to stay
I was left with loneliness and dismay
"Who are you?" I forever ask
