Well most people who have seen the movie have cited as Kirby (Hayden) and Robbie as their favorites of the new comers. Take that how you will.
Just saw it, and I have to say it clearly blows Scream 1 through 3 out of the water. The kills are brutal, and Spoiler:
the ending was literally WTF
.
Here's a quote
"Lier you're not in here!" "I never said I was in your closet"
Epic stuff right there!
I can't say much without giving the whole plot of the movie away so um yeah see it yourself. Oh and I got a poster signed with Nev Campbells autograph!
Just saw this in Taiwan (April 15th premiere date). As a life long fanatic of the Scream movies (hence the name - I was there when people were trying to find the third killer in Scream 1 and other Screamathons) I have to say this is an awesome spiritual sequel which only Wes Craven could deliver.
It captured the actual "summer feeling" behind the killings magnificently, and mixed a bit of a humor without killing the overall tension. Superb stuff! It took him about ten years to document the effect the original Scream movie had on people, but it was well worth it - I can see a lot of unfortunate *real* news reports, plot lines from Scream 1 and 2, and more, all in this one movie. Well worth the watch!
I found this hilarious post on imdb for no apparent reason - no spoilers don't worry.
So I went to see Scream 4 last night, and my theater experience was awful. There was this guy who through out the whole movie kept screaming really annoying things. He even threw a pen at the screen once. Keep in mind that the theater was packed. There were around 400-450 people. Yet no one was doing anything to stop the guy. So about half way through the film, I stood up, turned to him and said "Hey ass hole, mind keeping it down so we can enjoy the movie?"
Everyone in the theater cheered, but then things got bad. The guy got pissed, so he got out of his seat, came down to my row, grabbed me by the shirt and threw me down the theater steps. The worst part was that everyone started laughing....at me. He just threw me down a huge flight of steps and everyone was laughing. He then ran down the steps, made me stand up straight, and then he pulled my pants down. At this point there were tears gushing down my face. I told him "Please stop, I just wanted to watch the movie", but then he started punching me in the stomach. The whole audience wasn't even watching the movie anymore, they were watching this guy beat the crap out of me. One person even yelled "Yeah beat that fag's ass!". Everyone was laughing and cheering this guy on.
The guy then told me to give him my wallet and keys. I did so. He asked me what car I had and where I parked. I told him. He asked me my address. I told him. He then told me to walk all the way home with my pants down, and that he would return my car tomorrow morning.
As I started waddling out of the theater with my pants down I cried to myself "Why god why? How could you let this happen to me!". So I walked all the way home with my pants down. Then this morning I went outside and my car was in my driveway as promised. My wallet was in the car and so were the keys. There was a note on the windshield that said "Dear loser, don't ever try to stand up for yourself again. You will always be a loser. You will never win. LOSER".
Anyway I saw Scream 4 yesterday and really enjoyed it, the film is like a love letter to the fans of the previous films. I have only one complain. Spoiler:
No character development for the new cast, there was no time for the audience to "meet" the new characters.
Yep it was awesome. I was worried it was going to be too serious like the god awful Scream 3 but there was a lot of good comedy in there.. I know some people won't like that, but I thought it was done well. Not sure how this will start the new trilogy but I trust Wes will come up with something kick ass if he continues to be as inventive as he is here.

Now, I haven't seen the film, but...
Spoiler:
I'm glad they're focusing more on the veteran characters than the newer ones. The reason I was excited about S4 was that the original cast was back....and honestly, I can't say I'm too hyped about the new cast. Judging from the trailers it doesn't look like they can hold up the series very good on their own, but I won't make my opinion final until I see the movie.

Spoiler:
The old cast doesn't dissapoint, they're all great.
So I saw it today, and I loved it. It had all those great "Scream" qualities to it. A lot of the new cast was pretty bland however.
The only thing I really had a problem with was....
Spoiler:
....the opening scene. I noticed quite a bit of people at imdb.com weren't too thrilled with it either. The Stab in a Stab film just seemed stupid to me, and I'm sure it's been thought up before by many fans over the last 10 years. It just wasn't really creative. When it actually got to the real opening kills I didn't even know who any of those actresses were. They should have just given the roles of Marnie and Jenny to Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin instead, that would have stayed true to the formula of the past 3 films (killing off some famous actor, not some unknown). Other than that I thought S4 was WAY better than S3. The killer was definitely not who I thought it was going to be.
I saw it and i enjoyed it! I'll put my spoiler-filled thoughts in a spoiler tag like everyone else, don't want to give anything away for those that haven't seen it yet!
Spoiler:
I share CODE's thoughts on the opening, it was sorta cool but once was enough. I was initially worried about the new cast coming in but i actually liked them. I was also worried about the family connection with Sidney but this wasn't played up too much so it wasn't bad. The two cop characters were my biggest complaint, they were redundant, they just served to deliver cheesy lines. My other complaint was i figured out who one of the killers was before the reveal, never a good thing. I have to wonder how they'll actually continue with a sequel now because they introduced a new cast then killed them all with the exception of the deputy! So once again we're left with the original cast. I hope they do continue though, it's about time someone finally made a true horror movie again instead of, as one of the characters so perfectly put it "torture porn movies".
kill off Kirby. Honestly it would make the possibility of a sequel easier to accept. As much as I love the Sidney, Gale and Dewey, to have them go through it all over again doesn't sit well with me. This time was fine since enough years passed since 3 to make it fresh again. Plus I just really liked Kirby and wanted her to be the real "new Sidney". But obviously Kirby living would have messed with the ending of Jill trying to be the sole survivor.
Apparently a lot of people think she may still be alive since, unlike everyone else who died in the film, the last time we saw Kirby she was still moving. I like being an optimist but I hardly doubt they will resurrect her for a sequel.
And about the opening, I wish they had focuses on Jenny and Marnie a bit more before they killed them off. It was hard to care about them when we didn't really get to know them.
I hope when the DVD/BluRay comes out they don't leave the DVD bare-bones and have all the bonus stuff exclusive to BR as seems to be the trend now. Some people are still happy with DVD's you know and i refuse to buy anything that's deliberately cut down. I had hoped with the recent re-releases of the original trilogy that they would finally release the uncut version of the first movie properly but nope
