  • We deserved the beating; Germany did a fantastic job. I think though Rooney has done such a poor performance through out the world cup, and our defense was a disgrace. Fabio should stay on so we can build our strength and be ready for the next time!

    Well done Germany!

    • Contrats to Germany, great match and all but we are in 2010 now, not in the 1966, FIFA could have easily used tecnology such as instant replay to avoid what happened today, this should be a wake up for Mr. Blutter... if only instant replay was introduced then wrong decisions like the Henry's hand goal against Ireland and the today's Lampard's ghost goal would have never happened.

I'm not saying England would have won, but at that time of the match the goal would have marked a 2-2 and the course of the game could have changed if the goal was rightfully allowed.

      Wake up FIFA, wake up...

not to mention the offside call on Rooney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5YVwgJkwi8

      • Argentina is winning thanks to two foolish mistakes.

The first one wasn't so much because of the referees (the goal was offside in the play), but because that bald Mexican player (I think they call him Bofo) hit the ball with his head toward his own side of the field. Which was an idiotic move considering that you had at least 2 Argentinan players on that side. That error was what ended with Tevez scoring for his team.

The other mistake was monumental. Osorio basically handed the ball to Higuain. You don't make such mistakes against Argentina. Ever.

Agreed. Stupid mistakes, however the first goal was on offside... FIFA really needs to consider using TV to aid referees. Still, the third goal was a beautiful goal by Tevez... The mexican dream is dead. And also England is out. I guess I'll support Netherlands now

          • I won't blame the officiating, because the way we'd played all tournament long i've no doubt we'd have thrown it away anyway...but fuck me, there's no question it'd have been a different game without such a horrendous fuckup

This wasn't about technology, this was about having a pair of fully functioning eyes. Surely a key component to being a referee?

            • Utter bollocks. I'm so glad to see the back of this 'golden generation'. Bye bye Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard, Gerrard you bunch of overrated twats.

That is my professional analysis though you can see why I don't get a seat on the BBC panel.

Ah well, back to reminiscing about how close we came in Italia'90 for another 4 years then...

              • Do you think this will be the end of those players though mate?

I don't. I think we're gonna be lumbered with them for a while yet, unless they step up and retire from the international scene.

                • No probably not mate, but by the time the next world cup comes round most of them will be gone though.

I'd think Heskey would retire from International football now though as I believe it is getting to the point where he is getting embarrassed to be picked.
I think Lampard should do the decent thing as well as he is clearly not the same player in an England shirt.

                  But wishful thinking I guess.

                  • Yeah Sky had a graphic this morning that showed their ages, you have to think that at least one of them is going to have to do the decent thing.

Never thought i'd say it, Lampard and Gerrard retiring would be a fantastic thing for us going into the Euro qualifiters.

                    • I think we need some new blood (just look at the Germany team and how amazing on some of the talent these young players have) and have an actual team that can work together and know on each person's strength and weaknesses. I think this is a good wake-up call after England's defeat and the reaction over here.

                      • I was hoping that Chile would win... but they had injured and suspended key players... Well, Brazil also had a couple of players missing the match now that I think 'bout it.

I guess they simply had no chance against Brazil.

                          • Well the fight with these 2 countries, I have no idea who'd win especially since the tough mexico and england were eliminated.

                            • Fuck it. I'm going with Argentina.

Why not Spain? well their lucky charm, Manolo "El Bombo", was sent home due to sickness and will miss their next game. If they actually win their match without Manolo being present, then I might pick Spain over Argentina.

I don't give a damn about Brazil. If they win or lose I don't care.

Great game Netherlands - Brazil, I'll support the Oranje until the final (hopefully vs Spain of course)
