This series is what RE movies could have been.

He does have a valid point BBoy. If the RE movies were done correctly it could have looked something like this.

I'm doubtful that good of acting/writing or the whole emphasis of showcasing humanity towards the random undead would have been implemented at the time.

Nah, the RE movies could never be this. The movies come from the games, and while the movies are poorly written and thought out it's likely because the games aren't exactly brilliant at it either. The movies could have been a lot better, certainly, but the Walking Dead is based on an incredibly well written comic, and I believe the script is being done by the same guy. The RE movies? Never had a chance of being this good.

I'm glad that quite a bunch of my friends have been watching this (or some are watching this Friday), it feels like this is the next big thing to watch for me, after Battlestar Galactica and Lost. The pilot was fantastic and I think AMC is on another winner again (big fan of breaking bad here <3). It just shows how dedicated they are when they pick a talented team and will focus on the quality and pacing of not rushing things.

Got to love everything about this. I really can't wait until we get to meet the "governor" later on.

                Good news!

                Zombie-tastic: 'Walking Dead' ratings huge

AMC's The Walking Dead premiere ratings are enormous: The 90-minute Halloween night premiere delivered 5.3 million viewers.

That's the largest audience for any cable series premiere on any network this year.

It's also the highest premiere numbers for any series in AMC's history.
In terms, mad men series finale only had 2.5 million viewed.

                Huge success!

                  Sweet, soul crushing victory!

...I keep expecting Fox to buy the network just so they can cancel it.

Great show, I just started watching last night. Saw the first episode online and was amazed. Then the second came on AMC, it was alright but I was Spoiler:

I hate to say it but, I hope towards the end of the show his wife and his deputy both get bitten or something, they deserve it.

                      Spoiler:

You haven't read the comics then. For one...she originally slept with him, I believe, just once, and regretted it afterwards. And two...she had given her husband up for dead. It's a zombie outbreak and the survivors are doing what they can to remain sane and feel human. And the deputy is doing what he thinks to be the right thing...caring for his best friend's family. They both believe he is dead, so in their eyes they aren't cheating Rick.

If you have to know...(MAJOR SPOILER)

This. What do you think the significance of her taking the necklace with her wedding band on it off of her neck was about? She's trying to move on, thinking that Rick is dead. The scene in the first episode where Rick is telling him about the problems he's having with his wife has so much more weight now after the sex scene from last night.

Also, for future reference, I didn't read the comics and would appreciate all spoilers tagged(like Rosetta did) or just left out of this thread in general because this thread isn't about the comics, it's about the TV show. If you know what happens, that's great...but I'd like to be surprised by the greatness that is this TV show.

Love this show. So addicted to it, and it has some incredible potential.

Just a quick question for those who read the comics. Is it unfolding exactly as it did in the comics? Because I also watch true Blood, and they switch things up from the novels, but still remain on the same kind of story plot from the books.

                              I've only seen the first episode (it's shown on Fridays here) but so far, no, it's not 100% the same. The difference's aren't huge, but they are there. Such as;
