Nah, the RE movies could never be this. The movies come from the games, and while the movies are poorly written and thought out it's likely because the games aren't exactly brilliant at it either. The movies could have been a lot better, certainly, but the Walking Dead is based on an incredibly well written comic, and I believe the script is being done by the same guy. The RE movies? Never had a chance of being this good.

I'm glad that quite a bunch of my friends have been watching this (or some are watching this Friday), it feels like this is the next big thing to watch for me, after Battlestar Galactica and Lost. The pilot was fantastic and I think AMC is on another winner again (big fan of breaking bad here <3). It just shows how dedicated they are when they pick a talented team and will focus on the quality and pacing of not rushing things.
Got to love everything about this. I really can't wait until we get to meet the "governor" later on.

Good news!
Zombie-tastic: 'Walking Dead' ratings huge
AMC's The Walking Dead premiere ratings are enormous: The 90-minute Halloween night premiere delivered 5.3 million viewers.
That's the largest audience for any cable series premiere on any network this year.
It's also the highest premiere numbers for any series in AMC's history.
Huge success!

Great show, I just started watching last night. Saw the first episode online and was amazed. Then the second came on AMC, it was alright but I was Spoiler:
pissed off over the lame "affair" thing going on between the Sheriff's deputy and his wife at the beginning of it. It really isn't necessary to put stupid sex scenes, I doubt anyone would be having sex during a zombie outbreak anyway when a zombie could just sneak up from behind and chomp.... Well if I wanted to see people having sex I'd rent a porno film basically.
I hate to say it but, I hope towards the end of the show his wife and his deputy both get bitten or something, they deserve it.
Spoiler:
The wife deserves to die for the sole fact she cheated on her husband.
The deputy deserves to die for the sole fact he betrayed his damn best friend...Last edited by VirusPunk; 11-08-2010, 03:03 PM.

If you have to know...(MAJOR SPOILER)
Spoiler:
She does get killed. Same with the child she bears the man that is not her husband. Shotgunned down while trying to escape an attack on what they believed was a safe place to live. Lori and the baby girl die. Hope you enjoy it.Last edited by Bertha; 11-08-2010, 04:13 PM.sigpic

Also, for future reference, I didn't read the comics and would appreciate all spoilers tagged(like Rosetta did) or just left out of this thread in general because this thread isn't about the comics, it's about the TV show. If you know what happens, that's great...but I'd like to be surprised by the greatness that is this TV show.

Love this show. So addicted to it, and it has some incredible potential.
Just a quick question for those who read the comics. Is it unfolding exactly as it did in the comics? Because I also watch true Blood, and they switch things up from the novels, but still remain on the same kind of story plot from the books.

Spoiler:
Rick ending up stuck in the tank at the end of episode one, the mom zombie, Rick being shot with a pistol rather than a shotgun, the police station being low on stuff (they actually return there late in the comic, since Rick still has the key)...and few other little details.
