Anyone got tips any for the following i'm trying to scan in a white piece of glossy cardboard that has a indented design on it, i'm using a old school flatbed scanner and it's not picking up the design because it's too reflective and bouncy the light straight back of it as white instead of gray shadows to pickup the design what do you suggest?, I've thought about maybe suspending the carboard in the air a few cm's with some black paper shoved underneath it.

There's also some Descreen option that has following options
None, Newspaper, Magazine, Art Print i'm guessing these are to despeckle found font what option should I be using for this glossy cardboard?

When I did my first test scan it seemed pickup more detail using the scan mode Gray instead of Colour, I guess Colour bleeds them together when monochrome is being scanned. There's also a Unsharp Mask option in the filters tab, i've got no idea what it's suppose to do or change I can't see a difference with it on.

Not a pro with scanners either but how about using a flashlight to provide a second source of light during the scanning process? You insert a small flashlight while scanning. From the side and hopefuly it will produce a visible shadow that brings out the indented design.

If this second light source is too strong, maybe it would help to bring down the intensity of the light coming from the flashlight.
Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

The best is probably taking a picture using a camera, you'll need a good light set up or to be in a very bright room, etc. It's gonna be tough, but it's easier than a scanner imo.

I've put my recharable batteries on for a 15 hour recharge yeah my digi cam is old school too it takes two AA's, I do have a more recent decent digi cam but my mum used it on holiday at my NZ relatives and my uncle broke it so it only takes videos now I dunno what's wrong with it, but all taken pictures end up black, I guess he most of knocked the camera lense out of place and the video lense still works.
