So the part of Australia that was flooded earlier in the year, Queensland, has a category 5 cyclone off the coast, which is expected to hit at about 11pm local time, which is in about 4 hours.

The cyclone is absolutley massive. Here's what it looks like superimposed over the United States, to give people a perspective on the scale if it

Here's the source of the image, an the article also has other comparisons.

Here's hoping that everyone comes through the other side ok...

The same thing that has been happening for millennia.

Also, it's interesting how almost all these natural disasters affect the antipodean world. It's almost as though they don't happen anywhere else!

Not really, we expect quakes. Christchurch got lucky last Sept with a 7.1 and no deaths, mostly because it was deeper, further away from the city, and happened at 4.30 in the morning. This time it was lunch time, 9km outside of the CBD, and while it was a 6.3 it was only 5km deep. We've had I think maybe 10 quakes over 6 in the past year or two.

And evidently you appear to have missed my sarcasm.
