After big quakes in that part of Asia, we always get Tsunami warnings here, but they are minor...this time it was big enough to send a full siren blaring throughout town, closing down the schools even. The tension feels so high, and it makes everything overseas that much more horrifying.

Damn Ancient Mayas and their doomsday predictions. I read this and it made me go: Hmmmmm....
According to the Mayans, we are in the fifth and final cycle. The first cycle was ended by a jaguar eating everyone on Earth, second cycle ended in air, the third cycle was completed with fire, the fourth in flood.
And the fifth cycle, the final cycle, the one we are in right now? Our world will be destroyed by earthquakes.
There were no quakes of 8.5 or stronger in the 1970's, 80's or 90's, but already 5 in the 2000's. Quakes 8.0 and greater also register more since 2000, with 6 in the 1970s, 4 in the 1980s and 6 in the 1990s, yet already 14 in the 2000s.
I just hope we don't get the big one in Cali....Last edited by Pikminister; 03-12-2011, 04:21 PM.Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

The recent earthquake moved Japan closer to the United States.
Geophysicists found that global positioning stations near the quake’s epicenter moved as far as 13 feet eastward! This does not mean that the entire country shifted, but that the nation has actually grown wider. NASA scientists have also found that the earthquake may have shorted the length of the day by a couple of milliseconds and shifted the Earth’s axis!
This is not uncommon as large-scale quakes go, however. Last year’s Chilean earthquake and a 2004 Sumatran tremor also caused minor changes in our planet’s tilt and day length. Despite the dramatic nature of earthquakes and the amount of damage they can cause, fluctuations in the patterns of ocean currents and atmospheric conditions typically induce even greater changes!

I know it's terrible about the earthquake and tsunami and people have died, but I'm more concerned about if the nuclear plants are going into meltdown. Another quake shook the plant again today and apparently it's the first time it's ruptured, and there is big fear of radioactive spills. Death on a massive scale as tragic, but not as tragic as death on a massive scale and radioactive poisoning/birth defects for future generations also.
Does anyone believe this is proof of the "2012 prophecy"?Last edited by Alexia_Ashford; 03-15-2011, 03:41 PM.

The 2012 thing strikes me as bollocks, but there is an awful lot of stuff. Uprisings in various countires, a number of disasters, the global recession...we get a serious plague and I'm breaking out some 'The End is Very Fucking Nigh' signs.
