This show is so fucking weird.

but Jon Snow is so fucking hot, that I will keep watching.

EDIT: I just watched the first episode yesterday and just began the series.

Think I'll go and watch Sharpe instead.

Sean Bean is just as awesome as Ned Stark. He even has his own series of memes.

Ned Stark was just one of many instances in the series of showing what being 'honorable' will win you in Westeros. The game of thrones is a ruthless one, and as lovely Cersei Lannister so eloquently put it, "you win or you die."

I finished A Feast for Crows the other day, and A Dance With Dragons showed up on my doorstep the very next day. I'm around 150 pages in and it's awesome so far, mainly because it has all of my favorite POV's that were missing from Crows. Crows was great in its own right, but certain POV characters bored me at times. Not so with this book, so far.

Ned Stark, Richard Sharpe - Sean Bean brings badassery to any role he's in.

The difference being, Ned Stark was already a badass to begin with. Sean Bean playing the role only doubled the baddassry. I mean, seriously, Ned Stark is one of the greatest characters in fiction. . .ever. He's pretty hard to top when it comes to the honorable man willing to stick by his virtues to do what is right, no matter the cost to himself. It's really what made the first book so effective in that regard. Had he been a lesser character, his Spoiler:
wouldn't have the HOLY SHIT impact it did, and set forth that A Song of Fire and Ice is a very different fantasy series compared to it's peers.

On another note, since finishing a Dance, I've been reading the forums off it's major fansite Westeros. Pretty interesting discussions and observations from the book, even some things that completely slipped by me. But, let's just say my rant about (A Dance With Dragons SPOILERS)Spoiler:
can be put to rest because Spoiler:

I'm sorry, are you saying that Sharpe wasn't a badass? Read the novels by Bernard Cromwell, he was a god damn war hero.

Wasn't saying anything or the sort, but I'll be sure to put the first novel on my goodreads list, sir.

On another note, here is an Entertainment Weekly Interview the magazine did with Martin about the biggest A Dance With Dragon shockers.

Obviously spoilers, so until you read A Dance, don't click the link.

I'm near the end of GoT now, I must say by far Sansa is the most boring character out of all of them. Every time you're in her mind it is always "Oh this person is so handsome", "He looks brave and dashing and pretty" and similar crap. I hope she dies at some point, I cannot take a series of books of this.

Sansa will learn a harsh lesson of the folly of her youthful ways.

Oh my god. Right now I'm reading the Sansa chapter that takes place directly Spoiler:
Every other word is about loving Joffrey. I've put the book down 3 times during this one chapter so far because I cannot stand her crap. It is awful.

Gemma Whelan is Yara(Asha) Greyjoy. Her name's been changed from the book so as to not confuse people...dumb.

Nonso Anozie is Xaro Xhoan Daxos

Why would it confuse people? Is it Yara or Asha originally?
