OOH! But at least they'll stop talking about the wedding for a few minutes!

You raise several good points, Stu. We'll have to wait and see how things pan out before passing judgment, but the apparent failure of the Pakistani intelligence service is especially worrying. How could they have not known about this compound? It was a multi-million dollar complex built in 2005 with 18-foot high perimeter walls, security gates, few windows, and no telephone or Internet service. A little suspicious, no? Perhaps they are harboring Mullah Omar as well?

While this certainly won’t end operations in Afghanistan, and there may be some reprisal attacks, this was a much-needed morale boost, especially for the military. Things have been rather glum here in the United States as of late, and it’s nice to get some good news for a change. Let us at least enjoy the moment.

Whenever I think of the demise of despots such as Hitler, Stalin, Saddam, and now Bin Laden, I always think of this quote by Bertolt Brecht:

Do not rejoice in his defeat, you men, for though the world stood up and stopped the bastard, the bitch that bore him is in heat again.”

LOL at all these debbie downers still trying to say it's a hoax and it's not real. Come on, this isn't Metal Gear Solid and conspiracy theories and some super A.I. computer running the country. The dirty wizard is dead. And it may be sort of messed up to be happy someone is dead but at the moment, I can say most of America and those who were affected by this douche in whatever way are feeling relieved. Let's just be happy for a change.

EDIT: Well you can scratch the fact that you wanna see him. They already buried him at sea.

Meanwhile, back in the Middle East, the war goes on, more people die almost everyday, etc, etc...

Will this news only further spur on the desire for reprisal attacks? Of course it will.

Does it justify the loss of life invested in tracking him down? Not even close.

Should people be more concerned that Pakistan was harbouring the man? Most definitely.

I'm genuinely pleased for anyone who lost a loved one through any of the Bin Laden-led atrocities, i hope this brings a huge degree of closure to your grieving.

But in the grand scheme of things, this is little more than the end of the first chapter i'd imagine.

Hopefully these truths won't get in the way of the posturing school kids that have littered much of the thread so far.
Stu has what I'm thinking on the mark. So we got our revenge, great. But I don't think it's going to be for the better.

I heard on the radio this afternoon at work.
Stu has pretty much summed up anything I was going to post on the topic, so I'll just let his writing stand.

That is the best picture of Obama I have ever seen.

Also, today is a great day for the western world. We've struck a blow against terrorism today.

I get a kick out of these drunken college idiots standing in front of the White House shaking their fists in the air and chanting "USA! USA! USA!," then singing "Hey! Hey! Hey! Goodbye!"

While in the grand scheme of things this isn't especially relevant, it won't resolve the situation in Afganistan and Iraq and the like...

                      Talk about uncreative chanting/singing.

Mmm, i don't know, well... understand for Americans... but IMHO the "new Bin Laden" is Muammar al-Gaddafi.

He is real dangerous (remember Lockerbie?).

it has nothing to do with his race it never did, he should have presented it three years ago and it would never been an issue.

Isn't it an issue simply because Donald Trump needed some publicity?

Politics aren't your thing kid, sit the next few plays out.

I like how Jack Bauer is trending on Twitter, with some people claiming that he was responsible for Osama's death.
