  • "I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

    • You're right. Celebrating the deaths of mass murderers and extremists like Hitler and Bin Laden is very wrong.
Bin Laden did nothing good or bad for most of people here(sorry if i'm wrong and he did something with someone from your families). So, hating him only because of mass media info IMHO is a little bit strange(i point out that i'm not saying that its crazy to trust mass media). I read other version about who and why killed so many people on 9/11, i trust to it more than to "official" version.

Oh, so as long as YOU weren't affected, it's all good? Fuck off.

I really don't know what else I could say at this point.

He did something against you, really?
          Fuck off.
          Please be more patient

          • Topic is locked, because it's not going anywhere good. And yes, I will be handing out infractions later. I didn't last night because I was in a foul mood. Now, I simply need time to decide whether or not to show anything remotely resembling mercy and not give out max points, because otherwise I suspect the forums will be very quiet for the next few days.

I was speaking with Chimera earlier and he and I are in agreement, the world is becoming a lot more boring now that all the major villains are gone. No more Hitlers or Stalins to keep us on our toes, Saddam's been killed off and now Osama bin Laden. Kim Jong Il isn't important, China's always around to bitchslap him into obedience. Gaddafi's one of the last few baddies left and his time is up soon, we can all see that happening.

To quote Chimera, "We once fought the steel of German guns yet now we face the sandals of the Middle East". Or something like that, can't remember the exact quote but it was great.
              See you in hell.

Dr. King was a great man, yes. However, advocating nonviolence in his time is a bit different from what is going on today. If you can find a way to prove to me that showing nonviolence in dealing with people willing to use women (already oppressed and brainwashed into believing they are inferior), children, and mentally disabled to suiced bomb their own people, then you should be king of the fucking world. Not all white people where against what Dr. King was doing, hence the success of his actions. Terrorists arent going to look at Westerners who want peace and say "Oh....maybe we should just stop our jihad. Maybe our God really doesnt want us to kill them because XXXXX like we thought."

This isn't simply America celebrating bin Laden's death. Many Western countries are celebrating what they believe is a success in the 'war on terror' in which people do such terrible acts on people simply because they have ideas...oh...such as freedom of speech and quality for women. As I said before...this wont end terrorism. It wont change or bring back all that people have lost over these years. However, people feel like a great justice has been performed because the leader of one of the groups, a man that masterminded many attacks before and after 9/11 and manipulated people into doing what he wanted, is now gone. Will there be another man? Highly possible and probable, but that man will have huge shoes to fill, and it will take a decent amount of effort to gain momentum.

                • Having given ten infraction points to the worst offenders in the thread, I'm going to unlock it, with the theory that people here are adult enough to discuss complex political situations while managing enough empathy for those who disagree to not resort to any more of the less pleasant remarks and actions.

And yes, by the rules most of the people who got an infraction earned more. I'm choosing to assume that with such a heated topic they lost control of themselves for a moment, and hopefully now regret those actions. Or can at least not repeat them.

If there are more issues I'll be happy to go back over the person's posts and find each infraction worth offence for the next time.

Do not proove my assumption that most of you are adults and can control your tempers wrong, please people.

                  • All seems like a lot of drama over a situation that had obviously cooled down. Where's the sense in having topics about religion or politics (or in this case both) if you can't be a bit heated when you want to stand by your beliefs? I don't think anyone here has taken anything personally, we're heated individuals who are firm in their beliefs. That's all it is.

It happens EVERY time there's a religious or political thread, you must know that by now? Surely rather than having to go over the top with the clamping down every time you'd just be better off banning such discussions altogether?

                    • I'd like to think that most of us, myself included, are capable of learning from these situations and becomming more calm, rational and useful members of society, able to stand the give and take of lively debate without heading for, 'Your mom!' comments.

Just because I'm consistently prooven wrong...

                      • Apparently I wasn't very clear earlier - don't post if the aim is to wind someone else up. Cleared some off topic postings.

                        • The weird thing is, when it was announced...I just remember the worry I felt. I wasn't celebrating, I was jsut really scared of immediate retaliation. And to be honest, I now wonder if they do have the firepower to take us out, or if it's simply childish tactics of trying to scare us.
