I thought that this article was interesting in that the guy who was offended by the film doesn't mention the comics books that pre-date the film. Maybe he just found it easier to ignore the comics than the film, but its strange how a movie that is an adaptation of a comic character that is an adaptation of a mythological god can somehow offend people.
The film isn't saying that the characters, situations, or events that happen are real or that the version of the mythology its using is authentic, and yet here is a man who is very offended that they've taken a deity he worships and made a film about him that he disagrees with.
I'm positive that the man knew he wouldn't like the film, that being the case he shouldn't have seen it in the first place.
I like his complaint, It's impossible to think of a story about Jesus like this, not written to pander to or irritate Christians, but simply not considering them at all.
Obviously this is someone who isn't really in tune with the world around him or else he'd find all kinds of crazy stuff depicting Jesus as an action hero, porn star, vampire hunter, etc.
But still this film is pure and simple a comic book film about a comic book character very loosely based on Norse mythology.
I don't know how many folks are like this guy, but you have to have a sense of humor about life and religion, and having seen this film I can say it isn't insulting to the characters it depicts from the mythology.
As goofy as this guy is, at least it isn't as bad as the Group of wrinkled old racists who were freaking out because a black actor was playing Heimdal.
