  • Shitty Wonder Woman tv series cancelled...

Ya know there is a lot of really crappy shows out there on the airwaves, and for this show to be cancelled after only filming the pilot kind of makes me laugh. How bad was the pilot to this series anyways?

Maybe it was as silly as the actress looked in her costume? Adrienne Palicki is hot and all, but god she looked hilariously bad in that outfit.

I look at her and don't see what the character should be, now I'm not a fan of US comics really but I know the basics about the characters. Its kind of funny because I looked at a pic of Lynda carter back from the 70's and even though she also looked silly in the outfit there was at least a feeling of a character who was there to help people. She looked stoic, strong, and proud.

Palicki looked like a scowly cheerleader pissed off she had to cancel a date to stop a mugging.

I guess not all common sense is dead in Hollywood...though I will end up being corrected by this in like 20 minutes from now when we get some weird bullshit
news about there being another Resident Evil FIlm Trilogy being written directed and Produced by Paul W.S Anderson and Uwe Boll.

That's about the same treatment that Aquaman got. I'm not sure when they planned to start it but only the pilot was filmed and nothing more, yet Smallville lit up the stage for 10 years.

Hell Firefly would have been a damn #1 show for a long time had they bothered to pick it up for more than one season. Stupid network asswipes.

I think it was easy to make Smallville a success. Superman in high school takes about 4 years, then another 6 because of the fanbase. It actually turned out to be a great show.

Btw did you watch the finale? (yes, Smallville fan )

As the Resident Firefly Fanatic (yes, bad things said against Firefly will result in your computer exploading) I shall tell you the tale of woe that lead to Firefly being cancelled...harken, my favored children, and heed this story of foolishness and toolness.

Basically, Fox Executive Set 1 commisions Firefly. All is good. Then they all get replaced by Fox Executive Set 2, who'd made a pact with Satan using the slaughter of a thousand cute woodland creatures to attain the position. Once in power, and over a delicious slice of roast person, they decided to proove how stupid the previous execs were by showing up the show they claimed was going to be a big hit - Firefly.

First and foremost, they decided that confusing people would be awesome, so they refused to show the Pilot episode. But no, Whedon managed to work with that. So they decided to mess with the time slow, randomly changing when it would be showing with little or no warning, putting it before sporting events that typically ran long to run over it, occasionally just cancelling it and putting on Simposons Reruns - Simpsons = $£ you know! They even commanded the episodes be shown in a different order to how they were intended.

Not shockingly, after all this, Firefly's ratings were mediocre. So it was cancelled part way through season 1. There's even a script, floating around, for the next episode that never got filmed. And that, children, is why Fox Executives are the only kind of Fox you should hunt on horseback with a pack of vicious dogs.

            The fucks.

I liked Firefly, I still need to watch Serenity. I kind of feel like a dick for being a pro-Alliance guy.
              See you in hell.

No I watched a portion of the last season but I've gotten busy since about the halfway point and haven't watched any since. I'm not going to spoil anything else until it releases on dvd and that will finish my smallville collection as well.

Those are just reruns that SCI channel is running. And the WW character was excellent on JL and JLU!!!

I haven't watched Firefly or Serenity, probably because I know I'll be pretty pissed at Fox afterwards.

If your planning some sort of action against them then yes I would not watch them if I were you. Every time I watch them I want to send a package of Anthrax to those bastards.

I really was going to give this a chance, but it seems that the pilot must not have been good if they're so quick to cancel it.

My partner said that she looked like she was in a really bad wonder woman halloween costume and I agree. Smallville for all intents and purposes made it a point to avoid having Clark run around in red underwear and they've been going on for ten seasons now.

I don't think it's just the costume. It also has to be the appeal. Wonder Woman's TV show back in the day came out at a time where women were becoming more active and involved and they had this role model to look at. Unlike the Supergirl movie (which didn't turn out to be a good movie regardless good) Wonder Woman had the advantage of being one of the most popular female DC protagonists. Maybe not as popular as Superman or Batman, but certainly recognizable.

And the actress herself made the costume work. Where Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman looked attractive it just isn't enough. Sadly we'll never see her acting or combat outside of the pilot to see if she could pull off the Amazon side. Lynda Carter managed to look attractive and tough. She looked like she could kick ass.

Speaking of Smallville I was reminded that Lynda Carter was Chloe's mother in that series.

                        Anyway here's comparison pics.

Ah I see, they were going for the newer WW outfit. I think she has too much damn lipstick on myself, that's the first thing I noticed in the picture.

edit: The boots should have been red as well, it makes the outfit look odd.

But with Smallville it wasn't about Superman, it was about teenage Clark Kent going through high school. Not only did it appeal to an older audience, but a younger one too. It was like a mix of teen drama with the Superman story combined. What I loved about Smallville was how sneaky they were with it. Of course Clark wasn't wearing the tights, but for many episodes he wore the Superman colors. Something the new Wonder Woman show could have learned from.

Most would presume this, but then you have to look at some of the crap that does get released and you have to wonder was it really bad or did it just not have a wide audience appeal. They could have the pilot for the greatest show on earth but if the audience isn't there then no series/cancelled.

The old Wonder Woman show was a disgrace. Running around in camp situations earing what seems to be a heavily padded nappy.
