Dawn of the Dead, The Grudge and The Ring were also pretty good remakes.

I don't really have high hopes for the Fright Night remake. Evil Ed looks disappointing in this and I didn't even see Peter Vincent in the trailer. The guy said to be playing him doesn't even look the right age.

I thought The Grudge was a borefest same for The Ring DotD was great tho

Yea I'm surprised this got a remake in the first place it's not that popular although My Bloody Valentine wasn't either lol

If you think 'The Ring' is boring, see the original 1999 film.

I'd actually like it if the lead wasn't Colin Farrell.

I'd say they, and a few movies like REC, were more translations than remakes. The scripts are similar enough that there really isn't that huge a difference between the origional and the American version, bar not having to cope with subtitles.

I think so far his Jerry Dandridge is about on par with Chris Sarandons.

It IS a remake of the original film from the 80's which has a similar premise. Besides Disturbia was basically a pop culture teeny remake of 'Rear Window'.

This is a remake of a fun 80's horror film.

So it's still Disturbia with vampires.

No, Disturbia is Fright Night without vampires.

So this thread is Disturbia, with vampires, with semantics.

I don't give a flying one which came first to be honest. I saw that trailer, i said it looks like Disturbia with vampires, and i'm not wrong.

That's like saying, 'Yeesh, that Resident Evil 4, it's just Resident Evil 5 with crappy graphics! I'll ignore RE4.' Which I'm sure has been done, but never mind. Makes a lot more sense the other way to me, but then, I like a logical progresion.
