Eh, I'm kind of done with prequels/sequels/remakes unless they look spectacular...this doesn't look terrible, just unnecessary and blah.

                This looks promising.

What really got me was the music. Very much sounded like the Carpenter score.

Wait it's a prequel? Looks more like a remake to me. Not excited about it but i'll probably check it out when it's released on DVD/BR.

The title is also misleading. Why would they name the prequel the same name as the original?

"The reason the movie has the same title as the first film is because the filmmakers felt that adding a subtitle such as "The Thing: Begins", "The Thing: Origins" and so forth, did not sound as reverential as just simply naming it "The Thing"."

I've been following the prequel for a while at Outpost 31, and I'm pretty optimistic about it. I can understand some of the concerns about it though.

It's taking up the tale of a movie thats...what? 20, 25 years old? Most of the time that fails. Horribly. Anyone whose seen the Alien Vs Predator films know the terrible, terrible risks such movies have.

Still, this one doesn't look like utter fail. I'm not seeing Uwe Boll and/or Anderson* anywhere near it. So it might be good, and we can hope.

(*Can you imagine how awful a collaboration between Uwe Boll and Anderson would be? Ye Gods, we haven't even begun to plumb the full depths of movie evil possible...)

Guy who did the Battle star Galactica remake series is behind this film.

...does that mean Bear McCreary is doing the music? Because that's an auto-win.

As much as I love the BSG remake, it does scare me a little.

Unknown. Read on IMDB that the reason this is just called 'The Thing' is pretty much what Alzaire said.

I like that they said that they didnt want to do a remake of the 81' original film because they felt it was perfect.

                                IMDB Trivial Quote:
Last thing they wanted to do was 'paint a mustache on the Mona Lisa'.

I wonder if they'll incorporate any footage from the beginning of the first film, at the end of this one? It'd be a cute nod.
