The shadow on the wall is purely up to speculation. Carpenter intentionally chose not to use Norris nor Palmer's actor to cast the shadow so that it would be ambiguous and up to speculation/mystery. The shadow was cast by a stuntman named Dick Warlock. He was also one of the Norwegians in the photo they found I believe.

I wont speculate too much on the new film, I just hope that it can match the original film moderately evenly in tone, atmosphere, directing and writing.
Believe it or not, before Carpenter did 'Vampires' and 'Escape From LA' he used to be a really great director. I think he just really burned out after about 1992 and lost his passion as well as his direction as a story teller.Last edited by Wrathborne; 07-18-2011, 10:15 PM.

He did have new film out this year entitled 'The Ward' which was his first theatrical outing since Ghosts of Mars ten years ago. Sadly it wasn't up to much.
I believe he also directed some sequences for Fear 3."I've got 100 cows."
"Well I've got 104 friends."

just wanted to say I watched the movie last night and during the scene in the kennel a thing busts through the ceiling and escapes, this is the one that infects blair because at the end there is a dog head on the thing and they had burned all the rest of the dogs by now, or thats how i see it. but no one even went after that thing that went through the ceiling they just watched in shock as it slithered away.
Also was playing the video game today and you only find chiles at the begining frozen in the snow. but now that I think about Macready might show up at the end of the video game I don't remember its been a long time.

Sorry for double post, but the film is out now so I'd like to know who got a chance to see it?
Not sure why all the reviews are so harsh. My only complaint with the movie was that some of the special effects that involved CGI were pretty bad. One of the reasons why Carpenter's film was so well received was because the special effects were top notch for being practical. It's that despite claims there is a fare bit of CGI in here.
Other than that it was an effective prequel. The acting was good. The pacing was slow enough to give you some tension in those early scenes before all hell broke loose.
I don't think many will argue that it isn't better than Carpenter's. But I did enjoy it.
