It's impressive. She paved the way.

The second person to do that was Lady Gaga.

No, she was just lucky enough to be first in her timing. No one would be saying she is anything big if Gaga had been first. I wish people would just stop acting like this is some tragedy or huge loss. The Music industry will move on, this wasn't surprising, no one really cared about her for a few years until she died. I'm not going to mock her but damn, she's no musical genius.

It is impressive, seeing as how she sold that many records. There was no real luck. People liked her music, so they bought it because she had that it factor and the talent to back it up. The music industry does not work on 'luck'. It works on promotion and talent, and Amy happened to have both of those. There were tons of impressive female musicians before Amy who didn't even accomplish the task. She was successful in bringing herself over from Europe and making it big in the US. Without Amy there would be no Adele. Not to mention she wrote or cowrote every song on the record. Real success comes to those who deserve it, and Amy found real success. Tangible success. We're not talking fame.

                      • It's just a shame both ladies, are...less than ideal role models.

Gaga is an awesome role model. Maybe not in the way she dresses or performs, but what she stands for and the things she believes in.

                          • To be fair though, Gaga told her fans not to follow her example as she used to take cocaine. I like that she has responsibility.
                            See you in hell.

Interesting. All I've really seen is her music, though. Which seems to mostly involve wearing as few clothes as possible and possibly anally assaulting people. And that's not something I want my kids to see...do not want my little girls thinking that she dresses is a good plan, either.

It is cool that she takes responsibly though. I remember Akon and his whole 'Blame it on Me' song that was pretty much about how all his fuck ups were someone else's fault.
