      Stop complaining.

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that we don't have access to the BBC iplayer.
I feel I should clarify this, as I'm sure there are some folks who don't know. We are literally forced to pay for BBC programming. If you own a TV, you have to buy a TV licence, and that money goes to the BBC. Advertisements don't happen on the BBC here.

So, yes, we quite literally, personally, are paying for a TV show...that everyone else gets to watch first. This is annoying to me. We often wait a month plus for American TV programs to come over here - I'm still waiting for Warehouse 13 and Haven new seasons to start playing in the UK.

Now we're waiting an extra five, six days to see shows we literally paid for? That's really not cool.

As for Doctor Who - the curren season, season 6, has aired the same day in the States and Canada as it has here, just a few hours behind due to time differences. And the next episode, Let's Kill Hitler, has an airing date for August 27th - in the US. The UK doesn't have an airing date yet. So you might be getting that first, too.

However, that only seems to be because I have pay-t.v. and it's been sped-up to come over here. It's shown on UK-TV which is essentially the BBC's channel on the Austar and/or Foxtel services here (I'm with the latter service, which is now absorbing Austar).

Mainly due to the additional factor that BBC reps also told us the incorrect date/time repeatedly for Australia so the show came on a bit after the initial date they had provided for articles and/or press releases for magazines, websites here.

But if I recall correctly, England is still getting taxes and the like from here so I would really only say it would be fair for Australia to get it at around about the same time as you lot do whereas America would get Doctor Who before we did and it'd take sometimes half a year (after America finished it) before we would get to see them.
Yeah, that's not cool. I have no issue with Australia getting it the same time if that's the case - if you're still pouring coin into the coffers, you deserve something out of it.

That's really crap in regards to Doctor Who.

Well we still do have taxes and the like just going off the top of my head, but I also buy stuff from the BBC's store (which also gets localized within the Australian one which is the ABC, but the BBC gets the main profit from them from what I was told the last time I was in the ABC studio in the Sydney CBD as the ABC is also trying to get away from Government funding so the prices on the BBC items (DVDs, CDs, toy merchandise) is usually double or triple some of the original prices so that the ABC can get a cut out of it too).

I'm also having to pay extra for UK-TV and any other channels related to the BBC in order to actually get Doctor Who, Torchwood and any other ones I watch because I'd have to wait even longer if relying on the ABC's broadcasts.

So I think it's pretty unfair that you haven't gotten Miracle Day yet properly due to them doing fast-tracks to places that have some of the US-contracts there (which paid t.v. does here on certain channels).

I'm so sorry I like BBC programming so much. I guess I'll just stop watching because I'm a stupid american who didn't pay for it and has no right to view it. I'll just watch Jersey Shore from now on. Hell, if I'm in the mood, I can just watch the 24 hour "How clean is your home" and "Top Gear" marathon that is on BBC America every single day.

Oh for...has ANYONE said that? Why no, I don't believe they did. What I, and a few others, have said is that may be a touch unfair that every British with a colour TV household HAS to pay for these episodes - we don't get a choice in the matter - but America, where advertising is paying half for Torchwood and nothing for Dr Who, is getting Torchwood first and possibly Dr Who first as well may be just a bit unfair.

Bizarre that we feel a bit of entitlement to a program we're forced to pay for, I know. You start being forced, legally forced, to fork over $240 odd each year for programming that someone else gets first, and then see how you feel that someone else gets it five odd days before you.

I have no objection to America getting the shows. Nor do I have any objection to them getting them the same day. Despite the fact that such things almost never happen the other way around, with American programming being shown here days, weeks or months later than when shown on American TV. Which, I assure you, can be a real pain in the arse for avoiding spoilers. I DO object to America getting such things first, when I have to crack open my wallet. No, $240 odd is not a vast amount...although I could certainly find some uses, with three kids and another on the way. I'd be ticked off if I had to pay $14 and someone else was getting it first.

That's it. End of story. Now, if you can explain why America should be entitled to getting TV first when I and other British folks have to, legally, pay for...I'm all ears. I'm looking forward to a very interesting explanation for why it should, honestly.

And, yes, I am mildly ticked off at the over dramatic post. However did people guess?

Why is it so easy to provoke Americans?

I'm not trying to provoke the dude, and I've no idea why he's taking this so badly. It just strikes me as bizarre and unfair that something they make me pay for goes to someone else first.

That's what I mean Jon, you can provoke a lot of them without even trying.
