That's the Ultimate line by the way, an alternate reality, not the main one where Peter Parker is still alive and Spider-Man. Just saying because some people probaly are not aware of it.
I don't really care because I don't follow the Ultimate comics, but I can see a lot of people making a huge deal out of it.

^ah, beat me to it. Well done.
Its only for the Ultimate Spider-Man comics I believe. So for all his other series, its still Peter Parker.Last edited by nemesiswontdie; 08-03-2011, 04:10 PM.

This isn't a reboot - this is the dude is dead, so the identity is being passed on to another person. It's happened a ton of times - I think Captain America, in the stanard 616 Universe, has been four other guys than Steve Rogers at various points, and Iron Man a couple other than Tony Stark.
Since it's not removing Peter Parker, just replacing his mouldy corpse with a new kid, I see no problem with this.

I do. They're just gonna bring him back in twenty or thirty issues, its just a gimmick that I detest.
At least at one point when someone else was Iron Man Stark was just an Alchoholic bum on the streets. I mean how many times have we seen super heroes die, get replaced, and them come back fifty or so issues later with another almost 'Desu Ex Machima' excuse behind their Resurrection?Last edited by Wrathborne; 08-03-2011, 07:19 PM.

In Ultimate, I believe, they stay dead. These are the characters they've killed to date - http://marvel.wikia.com/Earth-1610 - Go to the bottom of the page and click characters to see how many have been dead. There are quite a few heavy hitters who are dead and haven't come back yet. Just to be clear, in Ultimate, Wolverine has been dead since 2009.

Looking at some of the ultimate characters back stories and stuff was hilariously bad.
Especially the Red Skull as being Captain Americas son who went crazy when his father died in WW2 and eventually cut off all the skin on his head and...yeah its a comic, it doesn't have to make sense and yet it still sounds stupid as hell to me.
I know that the Ultimate universe is for a new generation of fans as well as for Marvel to play with ideas and all...but its laughable all the same.Last edited by Wrathborne; 08-03-2011, 07:48 PM.

Maybe. I don't read Ultimate myself. Lacks Deadpool. But when they kill of a character, the character tends to stay dead. Wolverine, Professor X, Cyclops, Ant Man, Wasp, Dr Doom, Loki, Doc Oc, Beast, Black Widow, Daredevil...all dead, apparently.
So it's not likely to be a case of Peter showing up again - he's likely staying dead. Whether the new kid lives five minutes is something else. But it's definitely not a reboot of Spiderman. Peter Parker lived, died, and got replaced.

I don't really see much the problem with it. It's the Ultimate universe . . .it's pretty much garbage anyways.
As for 616 spidey. . . .that Peter Parker might as well be dead because of this.
Seriously. Spider-Man and Mary Jane make a deal with the devil? BULLSHIT!
See, this is why I prefer the current Batman being written by Grant Morrison over Marvel's current tripe. They're not afraid of letting the characters change or grow, unlike Marvel. No, Peter Parker must stay quintessentially 25 FOREVER to bring in dez new fans. And I guarantee you they've gained nothing by their decision, other than pissing on continuity and treating longtime fans like the ultimate retards.Last edited by valentinesdead?; 08-03-2011, 08:34 PM.sigpic
