  • Dexter Season 6 Topic

THIA's very own Dexter topic for the sixth season. Discuss past seasons if you wish, but hopefully this will cover the current episodes, characters, opinions, etc.

I'll give this a final chance, last season sucked big time.

I was sold at "hammer time".

Good start. Even as an atheist the concept of religion might be a good thematic element for Dexter.

I thought Johnny Lee Miller was excellent last season.. always thought there was something funny with those self-help gurus! Lumen (was that her name?) ruined it all though, never liked any of her scenes, especially with Dexter, very awkward.

Not sold on the religious concept yet, though I can see how it can possibly be enlightening for Dexter.. looking for a greater purpose.. We'll see how it goes.. too early to tell if this season is gonna be a shocker or not.

I don't get Showtime, so I have to wait for Dexter to come out on DVD... The waiting sucks! I just read a recap of the first episode, it sounded pretty decent! I wonder if Dexter will shop around for different religions throughout the season or only pursue Catholicism? Either way, I bet it will be great. I already liked some of his lines in the first episode. Damn, I wish I had Showtime.

One of the more creative deaths I've seen in this series.

              *Body's stomach starts moving.*

              Deb: The fuck is that?

              *Opens stomach*

              Deb: SNAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!

Dexter is a circus show now. It really lost the charm it had from the earlier seasons (specifically seasons 1, 2 and perhaps 3). I mean the villians are a serious joke this season, what the hell? I miss the Dexter we saw from 2006, now that was top notch stuff...

It's missing a decent antagonist I agree.. and the other seasons always had some decent dynamics going on, family life with Rita, Astor and Cody - "friendship" with Miguel/Trinity killer. This season has nothing, zip, just some guy crying over Jesus with some old guy. This is not Dexter as we know it..

I'm also getting tired of Deb, I think her real life marriage to Dexter screwed things up on the show somehow. I remember her face on some comic con video when Rita was talking about being naked with Dexter, she was damn jealous haha..

I only saw the first episode of season 6 so far, but I think this will be a great season.

As far as I'm concerned each season delves into Dexter as a character study for his outlook on whether he and his dark passenger can be a part of the society he lives in. Season six is obviously making Religion a focal point.

Being an Atheist it's easy for me to write this off as uninteresting, but you'd be surprised. I'm surrounded by a lot of family and friends that all search or believe in a higher power and I always take note of how it shapes (or doesn't shape) them as a person.

When it comes to the "villains" I'm actually a fan of both actors so I have no quarrels with their acting. The roles are also right on the dot.

Enetirnel can vouch for me on this but I called out early on that Spoiler:
If you take a step back and study the actions of these characters you can come to find new twists and reveals before they even occur.

The fourth season still looks to be my favorite because the parallel stories between Dexter and the Trinity killer were very engaging. However, I'm still finding the sixth season interesting. I do wanna know if Dexter has learned anything on his path thus far. Can he save Travis from Doomsday? How will a certain piece of evidence from the first season also come into play? And how much more of a lost cause can Quinn be at this point?

I'm glad someone other than me brought this thread back from the grave as that is where Dexter currently belongs.

Just watching this last night and can see how ridiculous it all is - not that it wasn't before, just this season is particularly appalling. Dexter walking around in broad daylight with a wanted murderer, even putting him up in a motel, going to his workplace which definitely doesn't have any cameras </sarcasm>, killing people on the beach, murderer also setting up highly elaborate death scenes in broad daylight.. Police department finally finding out people have IP addresses etc..

OK now that we established not to take it too seriously, the new geeky hacker guy does add an interesting plot element - he's obviously rich, perhaps not just from games but maybe even that search engine he told Dexter to use.. he also has the hand of doom which adds further intrigue.. don't think it ties in with this awful end of the world plot though, perhaps something for next season.

The twist was so obvious, it's sad really.

Was it? I kind of felt alone trying to get the idea across to my friends and family watching it with me.
