  • Bleach(manga, anime) to be made into Hollywood movie

Logo handmade by Bannister Column by Scott Green A lion share of the globally best known manga/anime series come the magazine Shonen Jump. Dragon Ball ran there. As did Yu-Gi-Oh, Yu Yu Hakusho, Death Note, Slam Dunk, Ruroni Kenshin, Saint...

No...just no. I dont want to see the characters or rules of this world white washed and turned into something more Judea christian, much less taking place in the US, just so people in my country who aren't familiar with the manga can relate.

Hollywood needs to keep their fucking hands off of anime unless they're willing to do it justice, and I dont see that happening for maybe another 10 years at the earliest. They arent culturally respective of the source material, they dont care about the story arcs, they just want the rights to a new franchise that they might be able to 'Harry Potter'.

Did Hollywood learn nothing from the whole "Dragonball: Evolution" fiasco?

Oh... Oh dear god, no.... Goddammit Hollywood. I don't want to see my favorite anime turned into something like Dragonball Evolution.

Who gives a fuck, honestly? It's not going to have any bearing or impact on the source material.

I don't watch anime and even I can see how that can just end badly.

The thing I find so hilarious is that it's almost always the most absurdly shitty and poorly written stuff that gets picked up for these kinds of big screen productions - and surprisingly enough, it's only the really poor stuff that actually ends up getting realized, while the really sweet stuff seems to forever linger in some sort of weird development hell or just passes beneath everyone's radar.

On the subject of Hollywood adaptions; why'd Despicable Me have to be so awesome that they're already hard at work on the sequel (which my body is ready for) instead of going full out on the production of Pluto?
