A couple of nights back went to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises back to back. And honestly was a great idea to so. All three films become one main story that just works so well when you view them as a whole.
Based on the history of the preceeding films to borrow at times from graphic novels in the Batman franchise, along with the trailers, rumors, and casting I was able to basically work out 100% of the plot in Rises before I went which got confirmed early in as I watched it unfold (through subtle and not so subtle foreshadowing in the film). But the ideas I had were like a best case scenario and the execution was so great that when it worked out to be as I expected it was just a generally great film. And so when combined with the other two it is an even and consistant trilogy, and thus likely one of the best film series' ever made.

Harry Knowles from AICN hated the film and went on a weird rant about why someone who 'loves Batman' needs to take the reigns now and put out the comic world with Clayface, Solomon Grundy, Man Bat and all the weirdly fantastic elements from the comic series.
But being that this is the guy who loved Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Van Helsing, and so many other horrible films, thats not a bad sign.
One guy commented on how happy he is that Harry hated the film, because all the films Harry hates, he actually likes.
Cant wait to see the movie.Last edited by Wrathborne; 07-20-2012, 12:41 AM.

The irony of that statement is as a stand alone TDKR is the most "comic booky" of the Nolan films, mostly due to the scale and escalation put forth by Bane.
But how could you hate it on those terms when it's tone is consistant to the two films before it. You know the type of film you're going to see, it's not going to include the type of quite extreme characters in it.
If WB reboots the concept again after this, it's quite a possiblity Knowles will get the film he wants, but I don't know if it'll be the Batman film that most people will want - especially after Nolan's work.
I'd much prefer WB keeps the current universe going, keeping Nolan and his wife as producers, and working outwards from it. To say more specific than that at this stage would be to spoil the film but I can say at least there are several possibilities should they choose not to reboot it over.

It was beautiful from start to finish. I honestly think this is the only trilogy where in my opinion, each entry was consistently better than the last, which is saying something when the first movie was great and the second was amazing.
All I know is that I feel sorry for the next guy who tries to tackle the batman movies; Nolan's trilogy will be extemely hard to top."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

This is probably the most emotionally confusing film I've ever seen. So many "huhs" and "YEAHS" happening that I'm still trying to digest what I saw; reading reviews (especially those that also talk about the first two) seem to be helping a bit but I have no idea rather it's better then TDK or maybe there were some directions Nolan shouldn't have gone despite not being inherently bad. I have no idea rather it was the later or my brain seems to enjoy certain conditions even if the director was making the movie for himself and that what I'm feeling is a flaw in my anticipation of what to expect in a film or the direction of a series. Then again, if you were to look at it from a "good-enough" perspective, holy hell it beats practically every other 3rd super-hero film in the past decade by 4 miles long.Last edited by BBboy20; 07-22-2012, 12:25 AM.

To keep this spoiler free is difficult without just saying: 5 out of 5. Some people I've spoke to were critical of it taking a while to get started but all great films take the time to take their time . One friend in particular is a huge fan of Aliens which takes like 40minutes to get going so I thought he'd be more forgiving but age seems to have made him impatient. The trailers maybe gave more away than they should have but there is still plenty to be had from it.
One side note anyone else think the sniper earlyon could be considered Deadshot, Nolan always throws an extra villain minor cameo in somewhere . . .sigpic

To think about it, that Daggert character was most likely inspired by Ronald Daggert from the Animated series and Matthew Modine's character seemed like a wasted opportunity to finally get Bullock in the Nolan universe. I can understand Spoiler:
but it seems kind of like a wasted opportunity to get actual Batman characters to fit into these roles.Robin John Blake being new
Also, did anybody get the impression that Daggert's henchman could have been Black Mask if Nolan decided to add him to the film? His face was weird enough to fit that look.Last edited by BBboy20; 07-23-2012, 10:26 PM.

Was kind of disappointed by the film on reflection, I thought that there were too many characters and as a result you lost a chance to have those 'moments' the first two films had.As a result the films story really suffered from this and I cant believe I'm saying this but, any reviews that said the film was 'an above average action film' were right. I think the Nolans needed more time on the script, they had everything they needed and did a good job, but it needed more refinement. Loved the last 3 minutes of the film though, those 3 minutes felt more like the previous film, which was quite nice.
Was incredibly disappointed that you could only understand Banes voice for half the film, I do think they could have done a better job on it.
Someone said that this film was very much 'The Star Wars Trilogy'(original).
First film is good, second film is darker and is just fantastic, and the third isnt bad, it has plenty of fun moments and charm, but its not as strong as the two previous entries.
