There is also some influences from this one here:

Didn't play the original. How does the combat or battle system work?
Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

Looks interesting. Is this made in RPG Maker? Game Maker GX? Or is it independently developed from the ground up?
If you read this, you wasted five seconds of your life.

Like an ordinary RPG. Just in Resident Evil style. For example:
"Attack" makes you use your knife
"Skill" makes you use one of your weapons, and instead of MP, you have ammo.
"Item" makes you use a healing item or an item to reload your ammo.

RPG Maker XP is a bitch to work with, I hate it with a divine passion. XD Will it be a stand-alone executable or will it require the making software as well? (I remember many titles from that engine require the program to work)

Oh jeez, RPG Maker XP is still going? Or was it RM2K that sucked? I remember using RPG Maker 95 haha, that screwed up my PC royally..

Hmm, I'd recommend just learning a real engine.. like unity or something. Or you can learn modding for a lot of games within a day or so if you know teh concepts. Good luck!

RM2K was actually better than RPG Maker XP in my opinion, and RPG Maker 95 was an abysmal piece of petrified donkey manure. xD I also have to agree with you, Unity would be a much more versatile engine to work with. Granted, I haven't gotten my hands in it yet, but I hear that it's pretty good.

Regarding RPG Maker, the latest is VX Ace. I'm actually using it myself to develop a commercial game. Go figure. What a lot of people don't make use of is the fact that since XP (XP, VX, now VX Ace), the developer has allowed the community access to the "guts" of each engine. If you know how to program in Ruby, you could theoretically work the ENTIRE engine from the ground up to work the way you want. I've picked up Ruby recently, but am both a beginner to Ruby and programming, so it will be awhile before I'm any good at it. But you have to start somewhere. Anyway, my original point being that the engine is extremely flexible, but it will only give back what you put it!

Anyway, best of luck with the project guys =)
